The Rant of Our Discontent

Yesterday, Mrs. T-B. got drippy-romantic and mentioned her wish to have a Date Night, wish she man.

We replied, "Really, huh man?  What time will the Rojo be picking you up, huh man?"

Sorry I haven't been around, this process is really taking a toll on me, and this is a true rant.

 

We are at the NVC stage, around 3 weeks after sending our documents, so we still have at least a month or a bit more, to wait for approval. 

The problem is that Mexico is taking up to 4 friggin' months to assign an interview after said approval, which means we have to wait at least five more months total, after already waiting over a full year. I'm completely exhausted at this point, I'm even slightly bitter about it, seeing how other countries deemed more ''suitable'' for the lack of a better euphemism get in way faster. And to think of all the people scamming and frauding the system... 

 

Even in the face of uncertainty, I'm trying to remain calm and figure out my next move. I have one month of volunteering and exercise here in Cozumel, two months of tattooing at Mexico City, probably one month of yoga teaching in India, which I haven't decided if it's what I'm going to do, but I need to leave for a little while. That still leaves at least one month unaccounted for according to statistics,  I might go work somewhere else for a little while, I don't know. Sigh. I'll figure things later I guess. I want to believe it will take less than that, but I won't get my hopes up since it seems to be getting slower and slower.

Mini-B. & we had a "guys' night out," batch it we & wee man.

After ingesting din-din, we invited Mini-B. to warsh Mommy's car and to go to the zoo, excited wee man.

We went to PetSmart, free zoo man.

 

Mini-B. wanted to see the fish first, and to tap the tanks to see them scatter, fun game man.

Then we inspected the Adoption Gatos, poor miu men/ma'ams.

Then we inspected the hamsters, what a show man.

 

A baby Short-Tailed Syrian hamster was burning up his wheel, vigorously exercise he man.

His baby brother kept trying to climb into the moving wheel, not exactly wise man.

#2 would make it halfway on and would hang on for dear life, hilarious awkwardness man.

#1 would determinedly spin even harder, iron-man he man.

#2 would be carried around the wheel upside-down, if he hung on man.

If #2 didn't hang on, he'd fall atop #1, crash-bang man.

 

We didn't know how #2 avoided serious injury, no know we man.

We didn't know how #1 avoided "bonkus of the conkus," no know we man.

And #2 kept repeating this behavior for Many (2x2x2x2+2+2) minutes, probably too young to know better man.

 

Mini-B. laughed and giggled the entire time, entranced wee man.

He also gave a rather good color commentary during much of it, observant wee man.

All the store employees kept peering around to see what was going on, quite a joyous racket man.

We could not have found better entertainment anywhere, serendipity man.

Outside PetSmart, Mini-B. noted that the full moon seemed to be moving to the right, observe wee man.

It was actually the clouds blowing to the left, optical illusion man.

We explained "optical illusion" to Mini-B., comprehend wee man.

 

At the car-warsh, it appeared to Mini-B. that the Mrs.-T-B.-mobile was moving, observe wee man.

It was really the warsh-apparatus moving, optical illusion man.

Mini-B. said, "Daddy, that's another optical illusion, isn't it?", smart wee man.

 

At the casa, Mini-B. excitedly reported the hamster and illusion stories to Mrs. T-B., report wee to she man.

(He diplomatically left out the part about meeting so many new rubias, guys' secret man.)

He was so excited that he fell asleep an hour later than usual, tomorrow morning going to be fun man.

We will definitely have to do more such bachelor activities, we with wee man.

I always thought the Mexico wait was because of just the sheer number of IV and non-IV cases they have to process.  

 

Better here?  Maybe.  Still got two feet of snow on the ground and only two more months until spring.   I've managed to lose 34 of the 38 lbs I gained so far.  The last bit has been a struggle, it is definitely fat.  I'd really like to go for a walk with the kids, but the snow is still too deep on the roads for a stroller.

Lawn needs definite mowing, front & back man.

I'm not too sure that an earlier time in which I'd need allergy meds would be appealing, nor more months of mosquitos.  The June-July-August mosquito season is more than ample.

It is still ridiculous that only one embassy handles it all, considering what a big volume of cases they have, it's a very big country. One could argue Mexico City qualifies as a country on its own!

 

congratulations on your weight loss! that is no easy feat, I know that. It is better in terms of weather for sure, I wake up to the sight and sound of the Caribbean ocean so I really can't complain there, but I do miss my husband terribly and I'm so tired of this, sigh.

 

I'm also *Mono, cover your ears and eyes* having a lot of cramps, gotta love getting your period!
