There are two approaches to GSs and to a lesser extent at ESs, see man:

   1.  Make as much money as possible, $i man; or

   2.  Price stuff low enough that it will sell, see you man.

 

We attended an MS (moving-sale) years ago wherein the people were moving overseas soon, oversea them man.  Most of their stuff was worn-out garbage; however, we saw a table that we wanted, priced at $Many ($2x2x2x2).  We offered the lady (who was frantic about trying to sell their stuff) $Many ($2x2x2).  She said, "I originally paid $Many ($2x2x2x2+[2x2x2]+1) for that!"  We lost control and said, "Lady, do you want to get rich or do you want to sell your KRAP so you can MOVE?!"  She was so startled that she wordlessly took the $Many that we had offered, purchase we man.

Most ES cos. work on the commission basis that we outlined last night, see Eh ma'am -- half of proceeds for co./half of proceeds for client if the ES co. deals with the post-sale leftovers, or Many% (2x2x2x2x2x2-2-2%) of the proceeds for the client if the client deals with the leftovers, standard arrangement around here man.

It's sometimes done, si Eh ma'am.  Reasons might be that other local family have items that they'd like to sell at the same time (as Mrs. T-B. & we did at Mama T-B.'s ES)*; the ES co. thinks that the offerings are slim and "bolsters" the inventory, with client's permission; or the ES co. gets permission to bring in other stuff.  We can't imagine that any ES co. would be so brazen as to bring in outside stuff without permission, no man.

 

*Mrs. T-B. & we made $Many (~$2x2x2x2x2x2x2x2 + 2x2x2x2x2x2+2+1, if we recall) off the stuff that we took over, plea$ant man.

 

And we suspect that the purported "cider wood" is probably cedar wood, ce man.

There is a stamp on the underside of the desk, in the right kneehole, and it says Pine. I found that the day I went under there to install the under desk keyboard tray. If it sells, and the buyer one day sees that, they aren't going to be happy.

 

I think it's very telling that the patio set she has for sale is still there, but the ones I don't recognize are marked sold. It would seem from your analysis that the people who owned that stuff ascribe to your theory. Price is low enough to sell.

 

I can't wait to see what fabulous asking price she puts on the actual house.
