I agree. I wouldn't 'stop her even if I could. She has the right to choose.  I don't think any of my in-laws deserve a skerrick of sympathy. I wish my friend had the means to check her self into something as posh, with hot and cold running whatever on demand. But, she hasn't. It is what it is. But what it is, sucks.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Something about money makes families crazy.

No truer words spoken. My father passed about 1.5 years ago. There was a little money left, although it should have been twice the size but for some significant loans given to our youngest brother - the baby of the family of course. The remaining money was split 7 ways to all children, including the debtor brother. What was maddening, as that all he needed to do was tell the other 6 of us was that he was broke and had no way to repay the debt, and that he desperately needed that 1/7th share. But instead he clammed up and refused to acknowledge anything. Seriously, the 6 of us were ready to tell him "no biggie" and continue on with our relationships with him, but he chose the absolute worst response, i.e. silence and inaction.

I'm kind of happy my parents already blew most of the money they had, sure my leach younger sister sure help spend that money. She's 40 still living with them and the older druggie sister and niece "borrowed" a pile too. SO when my parents go there might  be a little life insurance probably to just keep the other one going for a bit if they don't go together.

The only thing I want from them is the Tea set my father bought my mother one year for Christmas. It has my birthstone and their anniversary, I claimed it way back when. It's not really used for anything but collecting dust and everyone knows it's mine. I even  told my parents it better be written in the will it's mine. I fully intend to take it when their health goes down hill. I swear my sisters will destroy it or give it away just to be snots!

The only reason I got USC was because AR has some old messed up law that allows family to be first in line to estates over a spouse if they are not a USC. I do not trust the Hillbilly's brother and his wife for one minute.

My mum holds her will over our heads, I've told her repeatedly to spend it, go on a world cruise do whatever she wants but spend it, we're adults and shouldn't be relying on any inheritance.

My sister however (Dole dosser, only works when the state benefits stop) has already worked out what she's spending hers on AND TOLD MUM!

I mean damn I'm hoping she stays well, healthy and very much alive for a long time

My Father said he was leaving me money. I threatened to do all sorts of rude things with it in his name,  and take out a full page ad in the paper stating so. Luckily for us both, by the time he died, he'd drank most of it.

My Grandmother was meant to leave me her engagement ring.  Something everyone knew.  But in the end, a cousin living close to her pawned it. There were frantic calls to my uncle from her nursing home when her automatic payments started bouncing. Seems his daughter had cleaned her bank account out as well. He turned her in. Nothing came of it though. It's a great pity that you can't choose your family the way you choose your friends!

I've got three sisters, all younger. Never got on with any of them. Tall blue-eyed blonds. Very girly. I refer to them as the belles. On the other hand, I am not tall or blue-eyed, or blond. Or girly. I blame the milkman.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

So, by that sense of reasoning, your 6 kids must hate each other :P

Haha no my kids actually got and still get along really well. People are always surprised by it. The key was even numbers and not all girls :P

My issue with my sisters is it's their issue.  I was the oddball I guess because I would go hunting and fishing with my dad. They didn't want to go so it made me look like daddy's girl.

Absolutely. I would be the black sheep :D

Funny I don't get on with the one nearest in age to me. For 7 weeks every year, we are the same age. Maybe that's why :)

I am the eldest, then the next one right away, then 7 years until the third, and 6 years after that the last. There are almost 12 years between the one next to me and the youngest. Thick as thieves :D

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.
