So far, we haven't found ROC to be too terribly burdensome. I would make the same trade, doing ROC in return for 5 months with my spouse.

that's good to know! At this point and after the process is taking longer than anticipated,  we need those extra 5 months. What sort of things are you guys sending?

Today's ultrasound did not please me.  I guess I have too much amniotic fluid and that is why I look like a balloon about to burst.  I had googled before the ultrasound and of course this was a possibility, but then the doctor had to say freaking cord prolapse as a risk.  I knew it was, but you always think google is out to scare you or something.

I have to have another ultrasound in 6 days to check the fluid volumes again.

We included almost all of the suggested evidence in the VJ guide. When we bought our house together we weren't able to put her on the mortgage due to her still low credit rating but our real estate agent was able to help us with a very inexpensive quit claim deed which basically adds her to the title. Add on evidence included a couple of wedding invitations that were addressed to us both and veterinarian records for our dog. We loaded up on shared utility bills, bank accounts, POA's, wills, auto & health insurance, etc., and went light on pictures. We didn't include any affidavits from friends this time around as the consensus is that this type of evidence isn't nearly as good.

One thing that made ROC easier is that we bought and moved into our house 9 months before ROC was due. That meant almost all of our documents displayed our current address at the time of ROC. Had we moved just a month or two before ROC then it would have been messier.

La colombiana found it stressful as hell running back and forth to the SSA office to finally get her SSN in those first couple of weeks but it paid off as we used it to get joint accounts, etc.

Marriage: 2014-02-23 - Colombia    ROC interview/completed: 2018-08-16 - Albuquerque

thank you for the tip! We will move in together in a bigger place and start looking at options to buy, but in reality, 2 years might not be enough time to save up for a down payment. I also want to work on my credit score first.

I'm also going to be on top of the SSN thing, it might be stressful like you said, but it will make things easier since a lot of things do require it.

The idea of having to continue to prove our relationship is honestly making me feel worried, even though we are bona fide. We will adhere to the suggested evidence as well, keep track of everything and I'm sure we will travel together, and pretty much just document everything still.

For ROC, we just tossed everything that could possibly be evidence into a box. Made it easier when the time came, as we didn't have to start hunting bits of paper down.  We kept everything that came through the letterbox.  My Husband still says..."hey, evidence'!

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

I love it when they make plans that include you, without consulting you. She can't be serious!  That's a 15 hour day, not even including the waking up and getting dressed part!

She's serious, funeral for some distant relative and she seems to enjoy going to funerals - we always say she's keeping a list of people she's out lived!

She had figured on me driving her and attending the viewing, funeral and meal thingy too - I have told her there's no way on earth I am going to the funeral of someone I don't know - I'll take her, drop her off and get some sleep :)
