Afternoon 😁

I am caught in insurance hell, I absolutely do not understand car insurance over here, specifically insuring a newly licensed driver.

Her grandparents bought her a car which is titled in their names and insured under their household.

To add the child to their household will cost an absolute fortune as they have a bunch of expensive vehicles, what I don't understand is how or why she can be added to our policy, has to be insured to drive all of our vehicles that she will never drive and be legally driving the car her grandparents bought.

If she is the primary driver of a vehicle titled under a different household, you've got problems.  Only way to solve it - move the title over to her/someone in your household.  You'll have the ask the insurance company about whether the title can be jointly shared between two households or not.  It isn't a gift if she's not on the title, or her parent isn't, IMO.  They are basically loaning her one of their cars temporarily, to be rescinded at will*.

*Otherwise known to me as the great car debacle of 2010 and why you should never trust a family member to be the only one on a car title for a car you partially own.

Random factoid of the day:  thanks local paper for making me aware that someone died of contagious disease in this house 100 years ago.  I really needed to know that especially when the troll and I have some sort of chest cold.  :bonk:

That's what I thought but her grandparents broker keeps telling them it's fine! I'm just trying to make sure she really is insured to drive this car - it's titled to her grandparents but it lives here - 2hrs away. I simply cannot see how it's right and I'm worried that it's my stepdaughter who'll end up in trouble

I'd not worry about 100 year old germs, I reckon you've got much newer ones...

It doesn't matter if she is on your insurance or theirs a new driver will cost a fortune. Be happy she is not a boy because what ever rate she has been quoted for would be almost doubled for a boy.

They need to insure her not you. It's their car she will not be driving any of your cars. If the car is older they only need to get the basics, no need to have it fully covered if it's older. They should get a discount for multiple car policy. The problem is she's not part of their household. So the insurance wants you to add her to yours because then she is covered for their car. Any accidents then would go through your insurance so basically having her on your insurance covers their butt and messes yours up.

For my boys all their cars are bought by them. I don't believe in handing kids a car. It teaches them nothing. All their cars are registered in their name but they are under our insurance with both names on it. They save a lot of money that way. Being that they also bought the car themselves makes them a lot more responsible because that car was earn with their hard earn money. Less likely for them to smash it up. Now that doesn't stop the other guy from running into them but they don't get penalized because it wasn't their fault.

It works that way. It's like you borrowing a friends car you have insurance for your own car and you don't live with them so their insurance will cover if yours didn't. If you're in the same household they need to be added or they will not be covered. Their agent is trying to save them money. She's not part of their household so they don't need to insure her.

Them saving means you pay through the nose and if she cause an accident it will raise your rates not theirs.

My understanding of it from being in a similar position was that our insurance agency insisted on me being on my mother's policy if I was in her house because it was presumed that I would drive the cars of the house and then be part of the risk.  It wasn't acceptable to be like "but I won't let them drive a car parked at the same house that they live in."

She's on our family policy which has 2 cars she can't drive (manual shift) and the truck she's never getting near.

It just feels dishonest and wrong for her not to be directly insured for the ONLY car she drives

Guess it's because in the UK you are insured for the individual vehicle and that's the only way I've ever insured before.

It was easy adding me, I was driving a car on our policy so my poor brain didn't get all confused 😀

I'm not bothered by death. I worked for years in an ambulance and in hospitals, and on the whole, I got used to it. Kids, not so much.  I'm sorry you found out about your house, I know it can creep a person out (F)

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

We didn't have to have the kids insured before they got their own cars. If we did let them drive they would not be covered that would be it.

Tell me why I bother to eat?

I'm hurting, bloated, feeling nauseated head is spinning. I hate feeling like this but unsure how I am supposed to survive when everything I eat I'm allergic to.

Every single muscle in my body hurts. Muscles I wasn't aware existed, and I have to go to the gym today as well which will be fun, considering I can BARELY MOVE.

But hey, it will be worth it once I start seeing the results, right? which reminds me I have to take the dreaded ''before'' pictures. I hate taking body pictures. I know I need them for the progress, but ugh. Also, I decided not to weigh myself so I won't make it about numbers, but how I look and feel instead. I've felt completely heartbroken by the numbers on the scale before, not anymore!

I'm waiting for NVC to unlock the IV payment and I'm not as patient after the nightmare that was the 10 and a half months stuck in USCIS. (hah, I was never truly patient) anyone has an idea of how long they take to review the DS-261? It's only been a week, I also sent an email for the request of agent yesterday, following a template. I just need to chill. We have all the documents ready we are just waiting for a job letter as proof of current income (how important is it at this point?) and then off to Rapidvisa for review +Sending. I'm excited and I can't wait to hear the magic words: Case closed.

Ugh, I am so sorry :( that truly must be terrible.

What sorts of things are you allergic to? I think I'm allergic to either flour  (or something they add to it, whole grain doesn't cause the same reaction) because I break in very itchy hives. It stopped since I changed my diet, so I'm sure it's something I was having before.

I'm literally allergic or have a severe sensitivity to everything. Corn, wheat, soy, milk, eggs, nuts, tomato, and those are just the big things. I'm supposed to avoid can foods, frozen and fresh as they contain a mold that I'm highly allergic too. I can't have things that are fermented or meat that is older then 24 hours as mold and bacteria start to develop that I'm very much allergic too.

Then I am told I need to avoid grains, and all these other little things that are on foods. Fresh foods also contain pollen inside the fruit or vegetable that i'm allergic to, so I should avoid that too.

I looked at the doctor like he had two heads, because what the heck am I left with? This is so messed up, but the more I ignore it the sicker I'm getting. Some of these food allergies also cause me to have mild asthma attacks.

I'm a walking mess, the only time I felt good was when I fast for a week or the doctor shuts down my immune system. That can't be down often but man do I feel like a different person.
