There is a trend among some in this part of the country to put more value on a newish house rather than a large old house.  I prefer the old houses myself and it seems the ones in Iowa are also more affordable.  We did look at Iowa, but the job situation was not as good there.  That might have changed in the last 4 years.

From my friends that visited Des Moine, they said the area is booming....

<shrugs> 

I have no interest in Iowa. 

 

Tho I gotta say....my family have roots going back to the Chinaman pioneers in Idaho. 

They either left the railroad in Wyoming and settled in Idaho, or stopped in Idaho when they got there. 

They still have a huge ranch in Idaho, with it's own airstrip...

It's 31F here, my feet are cold. Puppy thinks it's great outside. Chickens are out foraging and complaining I haven't brought them out any treats yet. The weasels won't stay out more then a minute and they bark their head off to get back in.
