Well these are workout leggings.  Theyre definitely NOT see thru and meant to be worn as pants.  These particular ones may be a size too small though as this isnt an issue I normally have? Sigh. Oh well!

Normal leggings are meant to be under a skirt, dress, or long shirt.

My daughter was trying to wear them as regular pants to school and I said OHHHHH HELLL NAW. I completely understand them being worn like they should but no as pants on a pre-teen girl.

That's a tough one.

I have 2 girls. They're young. But I think ahead...

My project for the day is a DIY dumbbell rack.

I have these bed frames laying around, was gonna bring them upstate.

But now I'm gonna use them for this.

All I need now is a  2x6.

Gotta get my lazyazz to HD....

The 8 year old, she loves leggings already.

on 1 hand, I'd like to give them the freedom of expression...

3 girls here(11, 4, and 1 year old).

I don't have a problem with freedom of expression but my main thing is I don't want her to wear leggings to school as a primary clothes instead of a dress, shorts, or jeans. We have had to get on her before because she was wearing white leggings and did not realize they were pretty much see through. My wife(her step-mom) is very conservative overall and doesn't want her to wear shorts to school but relented to me because I said she could. We just want her to be more modest when she picks out her clothes to wear. But she is 11 now and a pre-teen so she is already having some attitude.

looking ahead, there's a lot of other factors involved.

Such as fashion trend, peer pressure, etc....

I'd hope that my daughters will have great judgement in regards to friends, and hangs out with the right crowd.

So that they're not pressed to dress like some of these other girls.

And if they ARE pressed, I want to see that they have the individuality to not be influenced by some other people, media, etc...

I'd like to see my kids take on a leadership role, and have the good mindset of maturity, and guide their friends along as well.

This is one of those things that'll have to be played by ear...

Leggings have never been pants in this house.

LOL, young, your daughter is a year younger than mine.

Except mine is starting puberty.

That is no fun at all because mentally, in a lot of ways, she's much younger than her physical age.

Goodness, she's got two more years at elementary before she moves over to the high school.  :o  Panic ensuing.

I don't even think it is warm enough during the school year here to ever need to wear shorts.  They start in September, by then it is already 50ish and get out in May and maybe it will return to 50ish by then.  When I woke up this morning it said 8°.

My daughter is deterred from wearing shorts because she is too lazy to shave.    Welcome to being a woman little twerp.

ok, I'm not talkin' to you guys no mo.

Gotta get to HD....

Or, I can just go to the fook lumberyard 4 blocks away, they load your truck and everything.

And they're cheaper than HD.

But you don't get to pick the 2x6, and this one isn't used for framing, so I want a nice one...

My kid wears them as pants but those leggings have to pass a bend over test.  Any see thru and no... otherwise she needs to be comfortable. Also they have never been skin tight either... but she also prefers long shirts.  She likes skirts and dresses too (unlike mom) so leggings make those items outside friendly.

At least she's not alone.  She's pretty tall for her age, but at least 25% of her class is approaching on my height now and a lot taller than her.  I stopped growing at that age too.  #Scandogenes
