Earlier, we had VJ posts to post, an e-mail to answer, and 2 laundry loads, industrious we man.

However, Mrs. T-B. wanted to yak, corral we to yak she man.

The dialogue, see man:

Mrs. T-B.:  Yak!  Yak yak yak!  Yak yak yak yak yak!  Yak yak YAK yak yak yak yak!

T-B. [distracted]:  Si, Cariño [yes, Dear].

Mrs. T-B. [undeterred]:  Yak yak YAK!  Yakyak YAK yak yak yak yak!

T-B. [squirming]:  Si, Cariño.

Mrs. T-B. [undaunted]:  Yak yak yak YAK yak yak yak yak YAK!

T-B. [despairing of a reasonable bedtime]:  Si, Cariño.

Mrs. T-B. [newly motivated]:  Yak YAK yakyakyak YAK yakyakyak YAK!

T-B. [stifling a groan]:  Si, Cariño.

Mrs. T-B. [animated]:  Yakyak YAK yakyakyakyak YAK YAK yakyakyak YAK!

T-B. [plaintively]:  Cariño, may we go finish our work now?

Mrs. T-B. [disappointed]:  The job of the husband is to listen to the wife when the wife wants to talk.

T-B. [beating hasty retreat]:  We DID listen.  Te amo [we love you].  Hold those thoughts till later, si man.

[Laundry finally proceeds, relief man]

Trophie that's a pipedream of a rule by some idiot long ago. My guys that make well into the 6 figures don't have that kind of savings. I dare say 90% of households don't have that kind of savings.

I know I've got some special circumstances, but if I didn't, I would work, and it would be the same.  I micro-manage our spending/budget on a daily basis.

I was trying to trim our food budget and it coincided with the Dane's grumping today.  Consequence = plate full of raw spinach and carrots for dinner*.  Bwahahahaha.

*There were pork chops too.

I refuse to micromanage my husbands spending.  I will save where I can and how I can, we both check in for large expenses too, but controlling his life like that would end our marriage faster than i can snap my fingers.  I would never want to be controlled in that manner either.

Yeah people can be better off financially but in general we both have very steady and secure jobs.  Our biggest expense beyond basics is the pets because I refuse to feed them grocery store food.  If I dont eat mcdonalds or hot dogs why would i feed the equivilant to my pets?

The Dane micromanaged his own spending before we met with spreadsheets and his accounts.  Interestingly, you can segment your Danish bank account into different sections in order to allocate the money more easily.  Our American financials are a bit too complex for him to handle in addition to working.

We discuss all our spending with each other, but I think that is a necessity given his salary and our family size.

I have to admit defeat. No more going to town without a list.  It isn't a five-minute dash up the road anymore. Meh, instead of lolling about enjoying a Sunday morning in my pj's I'm going to have to put on actual clothes and try and beat the rain ice/yuck/whatever before it starts.

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Every family is different.  Hubs and I are too independent for being micromanaged by the other in any manner.  If you guys dont mind that kind of control thats fine and i am happy it works for ya, but we would be divorced before it ever happened.

I am lucky now because we just moved from Pasadena, CA to Country Sanford, NC. We used to have almost everything within a 5-10 minute drive, or just basic stuff maybe a short 5 minute walk down the street. Now we can't do that because live about a 10 minute drive to the first has station and a 15 minute drive to the local grocery store.

So this all means that we will save some money because my wife can't just step out if the house when she wants to walk to the store
