That's gotta be the velocity of maximum wind gusts. Sustained 102 mph winds would blow everything down. I grew up in Wyoming so I know a little about wind, but I was shocked upon moving to New Mexico. I encountered sustained winds of 60-70 mph outside of Tucumcari in Eastern NM in 2014 and I've never seen anything like it. I passed 2 different semi truck trailers that had been blown over onto their sides. Driving through winds that strong literally sucks the gasoline out of every automobile on the highway. People were stopping at abandoned gas stations in tiny towns hoping and praying that they were open. I was able to eke out enough gas to make it to a larger town which had a service station. Upon opening my truck door the wind ripped it out of my hand and slammed it against one of those concrete pylons. That dent cost me $1,200 to repair.

Bottom line, if you have to drive through huge sustained winds, make sure you have a full tank of gas, park in the head on direction of the wind if you need to stop, and be careful of vehicles with high centers of gravity.

Wow. Note to self: Don't go there. :o

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

Yeah sustained 102 is like a cat 4...

Back in 06, against my better judgement, I took my boat to the Hudson Canyon for tuna. It wasn't the first time I went out there. It's about a hundred miles out....The sky didn't look right, I started to head back. My boat does about 26 cruising. But I gunned the 2 engines and got up to 32. But the water wasn't having it. So I had to slow to about 18. The 3-5 ft seas turned into 10-15 footers in a hurry. Wind was about 45. I ran straight for the Jersey shore. The shark river  inlet was my closest shelter. But the water at the jetty was so rough, that I didn't think I can make it in. Finally a big Viking, maybe a 60 footer was running for its life too. I rode his wake in to the inlet and found a transient marina. Took another 3 days before I could drive the boat back to NY...

That, was the last time I went to the canyon...

I have a clip of me running from another storm. But that one was close by. A shark trip about 20 miles out. It was like deadliest catch man...

My boat is what's known as a sportfisher. It's built for heavy seas. It's hull is deep and heavy. But it makes me feel invincible and do stupid things. Well, until the kid was born. And I sold the bike too...

Hey, the kid makes me do stupid things!

This online n-400 is finicky.  The Dane probably doesn't remember half the dates I need him too either.

I just now got an email from liberty mutual,

"A winter storm is headed your way, and we're here to help you prepare..."

Really?  Is this the same company that goes on TV to tell you how great they are when you get a flat tire? And they'll change it for you? (First of all, you're useless if you need liberty mutual to change a flat).

Man I should go shopping for a new insurer...

Went to pole fitness, then the gym and finally for tapas with a childhood friend. Exercising really makes me feel less guilty about the occasional treat for sure.

I'm looking into volunteering programs in Latin-America that provide housing and food in exchange for work, to distract myself for a month or two. I really need to take my mind off of this.

I can't fully plan ahead without knowing for sure when we would get an interview date, but being realistic it won't happen until August or September, most likely. How funny is it that I'll be entering the U.S 4-5 months shy of our second wedding anniversary so I'll have to do the whole ROC dance for that small amount of time. Not ''ha-ha'' funny, but you know what I mean.

After spending two years in a long distance relationship, the only thing we truly want is to be together finally, so we will have to deal with removing conditions, it is what it is.

This is such a long, expensive, convoluted and incredibly frustrating process. I understand we have to jump through all these fire hoops because they need to sort out the fake marriages/scammers, ''bad people'' whatevs. But knowing how many still fall through the cracks (and that they get interviews before many of us, and soon abandon the naive frauded spouses) is truly a slap in the face. I understand it's impossible to stop them all even by changing or tightening up the process, which ironically would ultimately make it harder and more stressful for the real relationships anyway. I can feel myself changing, and not all for the better.  I have to fight this feeling of resentment. I just really need this to be over.
