I am assembling my documents for the I-129F.  One of the things I need is proof of divorce.  The K1 guide says I need to provide either a divorce decree or certificate.   When I contacted Missouri to get this document, they put me in touch with a company called vitalchek who apparently services all these kinds of document requests for Missouri.  They told me that Missouri issues a document called a statement of divorce.   They specifically told me that this is not necessarily accepted by all entities.

So... Rather than hope this document will suffice and wind up paying for a useless document and creating a long delay, I want to know if this document will satisfy the USCIS requirement.   If not, can someone tell me how to get the correct document.   I expect calling Missouri would be one idea, but that only works if I can find someone who is able to get me a certificate or decree instead of a statement.

You don't have a copy of the final decree in your files?  What about contacting the attorney,  if you used one?

YMMV

I don't know the lawyer and I don't have a copy of the decree.  I need to know if the document Missouri issues, which they call as divorce statement, not a decree or certificate, will be accepted by the USCIS.

I know that my divorce MSA was not accepted because it had to have the judges signature.  I did have a certified copy with the signature so I was able to send that with the original petition.  My guess is that they need a judges signature and case # to be acceptable.  Maybe that is common enough in Missouri that they accept that one.

I am from MO. Contact the county court house that your divorce was finalized in...

Marriage & Divorce Certificates

Certified copies of Missouri marriage and divorce records can be obtained at the Bureau of Vital Records in Jefferson City or locally.

Locally, marriage licenses can be obtained from the Recorder of Deeds Office in the county where the license was obtained. Divorce decrees can be obtained from the Circuit Clerk in the county where the divorce was granted.
