Not sure its the right place but ill try :)

A good friend of mine won the green card lottery 2 years ago, things happened and he fell in love with a girl outside of the US.

My question is if she can adjust her status trough his green card? i know you have to be a in order to give someone your benefits but since it was a lottery and not trough marriage so i thought maybe there's another way/option.

Thank you guys you're the best.

Happy new year.

she is in her country, right? they would have to marry and then him return to file for the green card

adjustment of status is in the US and she doesn't qualify for that and also it is fraud to have the intent to adjust status in the US

the process for spouses of residents takes around 2 years

So he already holds green card for the past 2 years, so what you're saying they will have to get married outside the US and when he come back alone to the US he should file for her green card? is it a special process? cause i know only citizen can apply for spouse green card.

Thank you

no, it's a regular process

residents, meaning LPR, legal permanent residents can file for spouses and unmarried children

the process takes longer than for a married spouse to a USC
