The reason behind me mentioning that im an only child is; the interviewer only asked my parents 4 FOUR times using different words “how many kids do you have” “you only have one child” “you only have one child in the entire world” yes he said that exactly.  While I understand their concern that my parents obviously only have me; and im the apple  of their eyes or whatever but what can we do about this situation? My parents are old; they had enough documentation and proof to develop and show ties but they didn’t ask for any documents to see any proof; all he asked was the same question FOUR TIMES!   No documents was asked to be seen no question was asked other than us.  Now my question is what can be done about this situation when they apply again which will be probably in three to four months?

Seems unlikely that could have another child in that sort of time.

i am wondering if sending copies and I mean copies of their documentation with the application would help the situation. I do not know much about the application process for visit visas so forgive me if my answer is not helpful. I am thinking the officer might have time to look at the copies where with an interview he is too busy being hard on your parents.

These days you can scan documents to your computer and send copies.  A lot has changed in 4 years sense I dealt with immigration or the embassy in Pakistan. I don't know how a visitors visa application is done or if you can send copies with it. I said my answer might not be helpful.

There is no way to attach documents to a tourist visa, as far as I know and definitely not when I last applied for one.

All the information the officers need is on that form and in the verbal questions they ask at the interview. They very rarely ask to see any documentation. Anyone with a printer can knock out documents that could "prove" ties to a country.

So what they go by is verbal answers and body language at the interview, to see how truthful they think the applicant is being.

The OPs problem is probably that the CO felt that as their only child was in the US that was more incentive to stay than to leave.

They weren't being "hard on" the parents, they were doing their job exactly the same as they'd do for any other applicants.

August 2000: We start e-mailing. I'm in Bosnia, she's in Florida

October 29th 2000: She sends me e-mail asking if I would marry her

October 29th 2000(5 seconds later): I say yes

November 2000: She sends me tickets to Orlando for when I get back

December 6th 2000: Return from Bos

December 11th 2000: Fly to Orlando, she meets me at airport

December 22nd 2000: I fly back to UK

January 3rd 2001: She flies to UK (Good times)

Mid February 2001: Pregnancy test Positive

Mid February 2001: She flies back to US

March 2001: Miscarriage, I fly to US on first flight I can get

May 2001: I leave US before my 90 days are up

June 2001: I fly back to US, stopped at airport for questioning as I had only just left

September 2001: Pregnancy test Positive again

September 2001: She falls sick, I make decision to stay to look after her as I am afraid I may have problems getting back in.

April 16th 2002: Our son is born, we start getting stuff together for his passport

March 6th 2003: We leave US for UK as family

Early April 2003: Family troubles make her return to US, I ask Embassy in London about possibilities of returning to US

April 16th 2003: London Embassy informs me that I will be banned from the Visa Waiver Program for 10 years, my little boys first birthday

June 13th 2006: I-129f sent

August 11th 2006: NOA1 Recieved

After our relationship breaks down she admits to me that she had never bothered to start the application process

I don’t think theres any way we could have submitted copies of their documents before the interview.

The quesstion is; my parents are old they well settled in Pakistan; have siblings there have their source of income there; ALL THIS COULD HAVE BEEN prooved if they looked at the documents or asked any other questions.

So what do we do now? Apply again in hopes that another CO will understand that parents of

only child can/will not choose to live in america and will come back to their home country.

Or you could visit them.

No guarantee parents of a LPR applying multiple times would be granted a visa.

Unfortunately, it's tricky. COs are obliged to start with the presumption of immigrant intent. In their case, having an only child (who will obviously outlive their own siblings) living in the US, will presumably have their only grandchildren, etc, might be considered a very strong incentive for them actually. And unfortunately what works against you also is that many parents who come on a visit visa do in fact end up staying to adjust status, so that makes them even more suspicious of other parents applying for visas.

So basically keep trying untill we

 get a considerate CO :(

Keep trying would make any applicant look desperate to get to the US.

If visiting/meeting family is the ultimate objective, Dubai as an option comes to mind.

Might want to look at the cost of travel insurance as they are old, with my Mother got to the point where it was more than the flight.

It’s not about a “considerate” CO. Most COs, everywhere, have pretty much decided the outcome based on the information filled in the DS160. They have guidelines for making decisions. Generally any interview is not that long, and there are many where there is not much conversation at all.
