I know. But people usually get married after 90 days. And I did see people get their GC anyway.

its a risk that they are taking by doing that. a lawyer recommended this option to me giving me assurance it will work but i rather do it the way I'm sure there is no risk to be with my wife than there possibly being one just to save a couple 100$

why are people who got their EAD so pressed about getting their GC? is there something i don't know about? isn't it a sure thing that we get our green card in the near future?

I guess, even you get your EAD, there is still a chance to get rejected in the GC interview. It is still better to get the GC and don’t have to worry for two years!

Do you mind I ask what work field you are in ? I am in Florida too.

Cannot really relax till one gets a green card based on the way the laws are setup. Some people even say USC but thats a stretch.

but you are married to a USC though, why would they break up a bonafide help with no reason. there is only cause for concern if you are caught in some sought of mess, possible came in on fraudulent terms and fear being caught etc. just my opinion.

IT project management. i understand that. i just came across this:

USCIS is now going to try to deport naturalized citizens who may have lied on their application.

They are also going to start denying immigration applications instead of sending and RFE if there's missing information.

"The Trump administration is stepping up efforts to curb legal immigration, taking a series of actions in recent weeks that could lead to deportation for people already granted citizenship.

The director of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) — an office established in 2003 to process immigrant applications for visas, work permits, green cards and citizenship — told The Associated Press recently that the agency is hiring dozens of lawyers and immigration officers to review cases of immigrants who are suspected of having lied to officials during the naturalization process.

...

The agency said last week that starting Sept. 11 its adjudicators will have the ability to outright deny applications that are missing information. That’s a departure from an Obama-era policy of sending requests for more evidence or issuing a warning of their intent to deny the application."

question- does the green card start from the date you receive it, is it dated from the end date of the EAD or is it back dated to some arbitrary date?

I will say nobody is 100% sure that they will pass their GC interview. We just don’t know . Even you have a real relationship , we don’t know what could happen. Especially now , all this new policies, seems they won’t send you RFE and just deny you which can me scary. You even can’t know what documents you lack.

also, with EAD , it only lasts for a year and you need to renew it if you don’t have your interview within a year which is rare but can happen. I did see some people renew their EAD but didn’t get the EAD on time so they might lose their jobs.

The date in the card is the date your case was approved, so that might be your interview date, if the officer approves you on the spot (our case), or some days-weeks later, whenever you get the message saying your Card is in production/Case approved.

I am just a bit curious that, I see people come here with tourist visa and get married and get their GC. But most people here first applied K visa which takes almost a year and spent almost 1k dollars. It seems no point to apply for a K1 visa because you can use a tourist visa to get the GC quicker and cheaper.

What do you guys think ?

Yeah cheaper but if your found out a huge long BAN. I couldn't imagine doing it. My best friend who lives in WI. Her brother was dating an Australian and they did just that this past year and now she is adjusting status and will be done quicker than me. They talk about on his facebook page how they did it the RIGHT WAY. WRONG. My best friend and I had a tiff over it. I told her that was BS. She asked me why I didn't just come down and marry Chris like her new SIL did with her brother. Sigh and I said well let's see its ILLEGAL.
