Hello guys,

My AOS package was made of: i-131, i-485 and i-785. I sent in 3 checks for each form ($535, $1225 (1140+85 biometrics) and $410) and later found out thru VJ that I didnt have to pay since I was filing for my AOS at the same time. Do you think they will send me the $400 check back? Anybody heard of something similar please?

Thank you

How long ago was this? If they haven’t cashed the checks there are couple of things you could do

1. Go to your bank and cancel the $410 check and contact USCIS immediately.

2. Call USCIS and speak to tier 2 supervisor and explain to them what happened.

3. Email lockbox support and explain to them what you did and wait for their answer.

Based on what I have read on other forums, USCIS will likely reject the check and send it back with a rejection notice.

I also sent in one single check with my total. Just wrote USCIS fees in the memo but I guess should have been more specific. I’m 100% sure you can write up the whole amount as our package was prepared by our lawyer...

Hey! Did your lawyer include proof of bona fide marriage in your package? Mine didn't. Just told me to have them ready for the interview!

Thank you for your help, my package was received at the Lockbox on Jan 8th.

I just saw on my bank account, they cashed just the 2 checks needed ($535 and $1225), does it mean they accepted my package and are just sending me back the extra check?

from the link you sent me it seems that sometimes they send you back the check with no pb or they reject the entire package, but since they cashed the 2 other checks Im assuming they accepted my application. Right? I will email them tomorrow 1st thing.

Thank you

No, our lawyer didn’t, and she told us the same thing: just bring them to the interview ;)

It is not necessary but if you wanted you could have, I know 2 different couples that went thru this process, one of them sent proof of bona fide marriage and the others didnt, both were approved with no pb, so I dont think it is a big deal

That looks promising, let us know what lockbox support say.

Hahah! Based on what I’m reading, looks like I overdid it, ooooops!! I front-loaded my packet, I included everything except photographs and that’s because I wasn’t too happy with how the collage came out lol.

I pretty much threw in copies of anything and everything that had both our names on it (joint account statement, car titles, insurance policy, retirement account statement, marriage certificate, bills, lease etc).

At the end my whole package weighed at least 3lbs.

Well hey they asked for proof so proof they got! 😂 better to be over prepared than under! I plan on taking lease, joint bank accounts, car insurance, phone plans, pics my only problem is DH dont like taking pics so far I have abt 40-50! We kept all the letters we wrote to each other when he was in boot Camp some yrs ago I plan to take those among anything else I can find with both our names! Unfortunately I threw out the boarding passes from back and forth trips🤷🏻 i wasnt thinking abt saving them at the time...oh Well!

Was just checking lots of timelines and threads from past few years... I have a feeling that since Trump administration the wait time between biometrics and interview is getting much longer. For example, Los Angeles local office during most part of 2014-2016 only took about two to four months to schedule an interview, but during end of 2016 and entire 2017, the wait time is mostly over 4 months... maybe I’m missing something here but has anyone else notice this?
