Assets instead of income for affidavit of support

Hi there people, happy new year!

I have a very specific question that I'm hoping some of you have knowledge about as I can't find an answer anywhere!

I'm British and my husband is American and we're half way theough the c-r1 visa process in London. We both work in the UK but my husband is currently looking for work in US. As we don't currently have viable income for the affidavit of support we are considering using cash assets instead. We don't have enough money in the bank currently but my parents have offered to give (not lend) us the remaining amount.

My question is- will they accept this as credible assets or will they be suspicious? Is there anything we can do to convince them that it's valid?

They will be suspicious, use a joint sponsor?

It is not a good idea. you can use any friend or relative from USA who has enough income to be a joint sponsor.

Thanks for your response guys, I thought that might be the case. Unfortunately we don't have any close friends or family that can be joint sponsors. We will probably just have to wait until my husband has a job offer from the US then instead and use that to show he can support me.

That will work once he goes to the US, starts the job and has a pay stub.  The problem with using gifted liquid assets is you cannot show evidence they've been in your possession for any length of time.  If the new money is less than 20% of the total, it might fly.  There's no harm in trying.
