Hi,  my fiance is from Algeria and we are planning to go CR1 but plan to get married in Tunisia, as it takes over 45 days to wait for a marriage ceritifcate in Algeria.

I'm trying to find out about how many days we need to be in Tunisia from start to finish to get married there.  I've researched on the internet and found people saying anywhere from 1 -3 weeks.

Does anyone (not Tunisian) have recent experience getting married in Tunis specifically and how long did it take you?  Any other details are appreciated!

Thanks!

Have you met?

Probably best to give it a few more visits.

I read your past posts and I saw a lot more than 2.

1- i'm older and 2 -have been married before, both were CR1, those are the only red flags to me ...what a lot more are you referring to?

We are both Muslim and both middle eastern, so no red flags about that

-We will have 2 visits by the time we file, if you read my post I said I'm going back in March and then we want to file

-Having 1 child isn't a red flag

-Having a previous immigrant petition didn't even come up in my 2nd CR1 interview, and I was with him at the interview

You seem to have an issue with me, I'm only asking for information on the marriage process in Tunisia.

For husband :

1-Certificate of eligiblility (شهادة عرف ) from Algerian concelate in Tunis ( not the embassy)  to have it u should provide :

Certificate of birth for husband should be issued within the last 20 days that is important + certificate of life known as شهادة حياة prove that he is signal + a copy of first page of  passport for both of u + ur certificate of birth . * u r not required to be at concelate

2- certificate of eligibility from us embassy ,both of u need to be there and sign a paper

3- medical certificate for both of u costs about 40usd

4- translate certificate of birth for u 2 and copy of passports

I think that is all.  However for translation of papers do it when. Ur there read carefully all papers they gives u however in embassy, translation office.  Lwyer , and of course the marriage certificate , be aware that any mistake at papers delay the process ( it is already slow 😳😒 now

Keeps all recipit u got hotel,  museum, restaurant,  flight anything could use it as PROOF especially  hotel recipit

The certificate from embassy Algeria or USA take only one day. So I think u can made all process one week.

Bring lots of certificate of birth like 6 u will need it.  Good luck and mabrouk 😊

Actually for MENA couples, it is a red flag, having kids from a prior marriage or relationship. It isn't a major one, but it is one none the less.

So this will be your 3rd CR1? You may have not been asked at the 2nd one, but expect it this time to come up.

I only can speak that I've heard Tunisia is similar to Morocco, so you should buckle up for about 2 weeks of back and forth and paperworks in order to finally be able to marry.
