I'm getting really impatient now. My case has been sitting at the NVC for a month without a case number. Someone I talked to yesterday requested a supervisor review it, to see why others have been assigned case numbers as of two weeks ago and not ours. I know this entire process is about waiting and frustration but still... Is anyone else still waiting for a case number?

At this rate we will have to request an expedite once the case number is assigned, so I can get to the US for my job in May.

Hello, so my first scan date was 11/28/2017 and we got a checklist after 5weeks 01/05/2018 because we didn’t fill page 10-12 of the AOS 1-864 because it wasn’t relating to us.

Well, we have filled the AOS again and have sent it to NVC which they received it yesterday 01/25/2018. Please how long will it take for them to review now and for a CC because that was the only issue. Thanks

After 2nd SD we waited 4 weeks for CC. It is just one lil thing but they still say it can take up to 11weeks again because they do documents in order they came.

Be expecting 2-4 weeks.

Most guys here have been fortunate to get CC this month between 2-3 weeks after a checklist

Finally got my case number yesterday! Does anybody have info on how long (roughly) it takes for the case number to actually be 'eligible' in the NVC online portal? The NVC representative told me check every day but that it could be up to 4 weeks...

Did they give you the invoice number also? Once they gave me both numbers I was able to log in and complete the DS-261. I did it I think about 5-7 days before I received the welcome letter from them.

You can fill out the DS-261 before you receive the welcome email from them. I did about 5-7 days before I received the email.

Hi all,

A little confused maybe someone can clear things up. My case was approved at Texas Service Center on 12/12/2017.. 6 weeks later this past Tuesday 12/23/2018 I got an update saying case sent to Dept of state. Now all this time since I was approved I was thinking it took 6 weeks for me to receive my case number from NVC not for Texas to just send it, guess I was way off. So now the question is how long untili get a case number? And how long is the usual process at NVC? Also what's SD? I see everyone posting their SD dates. Thanks

It should take 2-6 weeks to get the case number but it really  depends on the luck of our folders. It's all random. Maybe start calling NVC once a week. SD is a scan date, after you get your case number, paid all the fees and fill out DS 261 and DS260 forms. You'll send your IV and AOS paperwork. Once they accept it, they will scan it. Usually you'll get Case complete (CC) 11 weeks after the SD (if you dont get checklists).

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your answer!

2-6 weeks for case number. 11 weeks after SD... And everything else in between how long?? I see people's timelines and they don't spend more than 2-3 months at NVC how is this possible?

those are the "official" numbers that they give out whenever you call them. I guess it's the maximum time, the actual time hopefully faster than that. I read many peeps here are getting checklists only after 4-5 weeks :). But then again, it all depends on a lot of things. Straightforward cases finish quicker i think (this is my assumption).

Let's hope it's not all those weeks lol.. I've had enough waiting months at USCIS don't want to be waiting that long at NVC
