So it seems NVC received our package from Nebraska on 27 Dec but they still haven't assigned a case number. Is 27 Dec the scan date, or the day they assign a case#? All up a 2 week wait isn't that long so not a problem... they said we would get it by next week.

Did you call them? So it can be possible that they recieved it but didn’t assign a case number yet? I thought they would do that as soon as it shows received in their system. Ours was sent on the 28th Dec so we are waiting for a case number but they tell us that they haven’t received it yet. I don’t get it how come the mail takes so long. I just want to get started with the next steps since we have everything ready to send. Do you guys think doable to wrap things up in April if we don’t get a checklist of course.

Hi!

Once a case reaches NVC stage, the USCIS "priority date" does not mean anything anymore. During this second part of processing the case you'll be assigned, first, a "case number" (along with the "invoice number"); and further after in the process, a "scanned date". So far, none of us at NVC stage was assigned a PD for NVC.

It would be more helpful if you could retype word by word what's written on the letter, or maybe attach it to a post (making sure you cover all personal info of course), so that someone here could help you.

04/20/17 - Sent I-130 package

04/21/17 - USCIS received I-130 with PD 04/21

04/26/17 - Received hard copy of NOA1

05/26/17 - Sent K-3 package

05/31/17 - USCIS received I-129F with PD 05/31

10/16/17 - I-130 petition approved & notification of I-129F dismissal were issued

10/22/17 - NOA2 sent by E-mail to our lawyer

10/23/17 - Received hard-copies of both notifications (I-130 NOA2 & I-129F dismissal)

11/15/17 - Case was sent to DoS

11/16/17 - Received an e-mail notification of our case being sent to DoS

11/23/17 - NVC received the case (confirmed over the phone on 11/28) Case # not generated yet

12/01/17 - Got the NVC Case # & IIN over the phone

12/05/17 - AoS and IV fees paid Received Welcome letter through e-mail earlier this day.

01/02/18 - NVC packet delivered to/received by NVC

01/05/18 - SD assigned

02/05/18 - CC (First showing "At NVC" on CEAC, then called and confirmed it)

02/13/18 - Received e-mail notification of our CC and it being placed in queue for interview scheduling

02/13/18 - Just got interview date over the phone: 03/20/2018 Operator said that it was scheduled TODAY and that I'd be getting an e-mail with instructions soon

Later on the day I got the e-mail with PDF letter confirming the CC

02/16/18 - Received PDF letter indicating date of interview + instructions CEAC status showing 'In transit'

02/21/18 - CEAC status showing 'Ready'

03/05/18 - Medical exam in Lima, Peru

03/20/18 - Interview date at 10:15 am

03/24/18 - Visa on hand

03/26/18 - Paid the Immigrant Visa Fee

03/28/18 - POE LAX

03/29/18 - Form OS155A ‘Received and in process’

07/13/18 - Status changed to 'Card Is Being Produced' @ the egov.uscis.gov website

07/17/18 - Status changed to 'Card Was Mailed To Me' (this means it was placed in queue to be sent)

On the myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov site status changed to 'Case Closed Card Is Being Produced Non-DACA'

07/18/18 - Status changed to 'Card Was Picked Up By The USPS' Tracking No. was provided

07/20/18 - Card received 114 after POE

It does not. you are right they do have immediate visa number available. If you refer to the NVC letter stating the priority date, basically it refers to the date your case took a number at the USCIS...

The approval from USCIS has nothing to do with NVC. You have to verify if the case was physically sent to NVC. Mine for example, was approved Nov 16, but was sent via mail to NVC on Nov 30. NVC received it on 12/7 and case number assigned a week after.

If your case was approved on the 26, and with holidays and bad weather condition, it might be little bit to get a case number. Best thing is to call NVC and find out.

Call them and press 1 then 7. You will give them the USCIS and if they received it, they will tell u they did. That does NOT mean an NVC case number is available right away. it basically means they got your petition from USCIS,,,Once they enter the case information on their system, they assign an NVC number that you will use from then to communicate with NVC

Ah ok. I just thought that the moment they tel me it was received they would immediately be able to tell me the case number. Meaning i thought they immediately enter the case in the system.

Know I know. Still waiting for them to receive it. It was sent on the 28th Dec

Yeah. They are slow....and it is like they get your case, enter it in the system and give you an NVC case number and an Invoice ID NUMBER (YOU request that when they give you the case number), then using both numbers you get in the payment portal website to finish you DS-261....Once you have done so, give it a couple of days and call them and ask (to review the DS-261 with you in the phone)...basically u r asking them to process it with you on the phone...another day or so, you should be able to pay the AOS fees, then a couple more days, you can pay the IV application fee. Once processed and shows PAID, you should be able to finish the DS-260....Once done, gather all your documents and send them to NVC in one envelope. after NVC receives the documents ,,,give it a couple days and call to see if they scanned your documents in the system(what we refer to here as SCAN DATE)...if they did, this is where the waiting start

This guide here is very helpful and pretty much explains what I just shared plus information about documents you will need to gather to get started on it from now.

Spoke to the NVC today just to see if they had received my case from Nebraska. Only sent on the 3rd so didn't expect them to *but* she told me I should expect to wait 6 weeks for them to be able to confirm I am in the NVC's system.

Will probably call once a week but still...

Nebrasky sent mine on the 2nd, please let us know when you get more info. Figured they'd appreciate one less phone call asking about the same thing :)
