Hello all,

I have some questions for all of you regarding mailing of the documents.

1) I have raised the question with the US Embassy here and I am waiting for an answer from them. Do you think I will have to get the Marriage Certificate and wife's birth certificate translated again considering it was translated almost a year ago. I didn't see any timeline for these documents in the State Department website

2) The mail here sucks and I don't want to lose time with mailing it via regular post so I want to mail via FedEx or DHL. Have any of you done that? I think i saw somewhere and address for mailing it to when it is via a courier? E.g. Of when i mailed it via post office here; i paid for 2 days express delivery to the US cost me as much as a courier and it took 3 weeks to get delivered to Chicago (was tracking it).

Thanks in advance all.

Please help,

Our case was sent to NVC. My wife is living abroad with me for 1 & 1/2 year, not working. We found a joint sponsor but the website says my wife still has to fill out i-864. How does she need to fill it out if she was not working 2017 and half of 2016? What about the 3 years of taxes? Does the joint sponsor have to show 3? Or is it just the recent year when we filed (2017)? I didnt understand about proof of domicile, does my wife has to show that?  Thank you very much

here is the link for the documents that you need from the Czech Republic. It will tell you what you need. It will say there if you need to get a new one and for how long they are valid. Mine for example (Albania) it's valid only for one year(that's what the offices in AL told me too) and I don't need to translate it since it's an international one in 6 languages. Every Country is different. Talk to your offices in your country.

2)What do you need the mail for? you need to send the copies only and have the originals with you at the interview. So just scan them and send them to your spouse in US per email or fax them. I'm assuming you are the beneficiary and are in CR.

Don't we have to physically mail the copy's for the AOS and IV package or are all accepted by email or some scan?

yes you do send hard copies but the spouse in US does it. You choose an Agent that is basically the one who is gonna get all the correspondence and most of the people choose their spouse in US or their lawyer if they have one and they sent the mail out. Anyone correct me if i'm wrong.

I am the spouse and we both live in the Czech Republic until this is sorted.

ah ok. I assumed one of you lives in US. Are you doing the direct consular filing? Anyway I still think you will have to provide the NVC with the copies unless they tell you otherwise on your welcome letter. and then bring the originals at your interview. We are going to send only copies except for the I864 that has to be signed.

But let's wait if anyone has another idea or knows better.

Spoke to the NVC today just to see if they had received my case from Nebraska. Only sent on the 3rd so didn't expect them to *but* she told me I should expect to wait 6 weeks for them to be able to confirm I am in the NVC's system.

Will probably call once a week but still...
