All major payments/Fees for K1 Visa

I recently mailed out my I-129F packet this past Friday for K1 and although I already know about the $535 filing fee, I’m just trying to put together a personal major fee list for this process minus the little stuff like travel to and from different areas within my fiancés country. He’s in Haiti and I’m the US petitioner. So for those who have basically reached the end of the road or close to it even if you’re at AOS stage, may you please just give me an idea of what major payments are going to be made. I read things like the DS-160 payment and stuff but now I’m seeing things about NVC payments (don’t know if that’s the same thing) but I just need a layout so that my fiancé and I are fully prepared. Thanks in advance for any/all responses!

- K-1 petition fee $535 (no NVC fee for K-1, it's for spouse visas)

- DS-160 fee $245 (to be able to schedule the interview at the embassy)

- Medicals - depends on the country

- AOS $1225, including biometrics ( when you file EAD and AP with AOS, its free, worth it!)

- ROC - after 2 years $595 to get 10 y GC

Thats about it! ;) Don't forget to file for SSN card before getting married. GL!

Here's a website with a link to USCIS G-1055-Fee Schedule:  https://www.uscis.gov/g-1055

If you are going the K-1 Visa route here are the forms you'll need to fill out:

I-129F  Petition for Alien Fiancee

I-485    Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status  (There is no additional charge for I-131 and I-765 if you apply for them at the same time you apply for I-485)

I-751    Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence

N-400  Application for Naturalization

In addition there are the Department of State fees at https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/fees/fees-visa-services.html

DS-160

K-1 Visa Fee

Good luck on your journey.

Thank you!! Now that I’m seeing the actual dollar amounts, I see how pricey this process is. I guess my fiancé and I have a long road ahead of us! :)

Thank you! This info is much appreciated. I didn’t even know about the fee schedule form until now. Your help is much appreciated. :)

In the bigger scheme of things, the fees to me were nothing when compared to when immigrant is here. What you’ll notice right away is that your living expenses will almost double (asuming no additional dependents)  as they are unable to legally work for awhile under a K1 (need EAD or GC).

Some beneficiaries are able to help financially by bringing their savings/assets, while others are unable to. Glad that you are researching now OP, as it can be a shocker beyond the filing fees.

$265*

This is the MRV fee, not strictly the DS-160 (that's just a form, but it all gets lumped together so this is more of a distinction without a difference).

Also note that fees are subject to change, especially for processes like ROC and naturalization in the years ahead.

Yes, I think about that almost everyday about how it’s really going to get tough when he actually gets here, so I’m trying to make sure I’m Money savvy this year and save better. Thank you :) Hapoy new year!

MRV = Machine Readable Visa. The MRV fee is basically the fee for the visa application and any actions afterwards (including the actual printing of the visa).
