Question regarding I-134 for USEM

Hi all, apologies if this been answered already, i tried searching but didn't find anything. My fiance has a son but he's not coming with us to the USA. Do we still need to list him on the I-134 Affidavit of support? Logically, I would think not, since this is a sponsorship/financial responsibility statement for me to her, but I wanted to be sure just the same, since the K-1 paperwork did have us list him as a relation, even though he isn't coming (and we checked that box on the K-1 that said he does not intend to immigrate, etc).

Thanks much!

I don't think the USEM Manilla even requires the I-134.  With that said, the I-134 is prepared based on the inclusion of only visa applicants.

YMMV

You are correct.  No, does not need to be listed on the I-134.

But did need to be listed on the I-129F .. even if he is not applying for a visa.

Yes USEM still lists support evidence in their instructions letter, which does include the I-134.  The embassy may not ask for it with everyone being interviewed.

Hi.  I've heard a lot about things which fiancee visa applicants should bring to their interviews, such as proof of relationship (e.g. pictures, phone records, etc.) and form I-134 affidavit of support.  I just received an e-mail from USEM, saying that they have reviewed our file.  They don't list anything about proof of relationship or I-134.  Could it be that USEM has already determined that our relationship is bonafide and that I am financially capable to support her?  Thanks.

Congratulations on your upcoming immigrant visa interview.  Your file is now with the U.S. Embassy in Manila and we have had a chance to review it.  Based on our review, you need to bring the following documents with you to your interview:

FROM APPLICANT(S)

- Application Fee

- DS-160 form for [NAME, FIANCEE] Completed new DS-160 application form(s) to be filled-out online at https://ceac.state.gov/iv/

- Birth Certificate issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) for [NAME, FIANCEE]

- Certificate of No Record of Marriage (CENOMAR) issued by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) within the past 12 months for [NAME, FIANCEE]

- Medical examination results for [NAME, FIANCEE]

CLEARANCES

- National Bureau of Investigations (NBI) Clearance issued within the past 12 months for  [NAME, FIANCEE]

Please remember to bring with you:

- Bring a valid passport and all expired passports for each applicant.

- Bring a confirmation page from your DS-160 online application for each visa applicant.

- If you have lived in a country other than the Philippines or the United States for more than 12 months, please submit a police clearance from that country.  For more information please go to: http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/fees/reciprocity-by-country.html, search for the country you lived in before, and look at the information provided in the "police records" section.

- All applicants must register their delivery address online.  We are unable to deliver your passport and visa if you fail to register a delivery address. To register online, click on the “Select Document Delivery Address” link under the Immigrant Visas section of our website (http://www.ustraveldocs.com/ph/).  Once there, click on the first link under the “More Actions”  to register a delivery address for the first time, or to change an existing delivery address. If you have any question(s) on how to register a delivery address, please contact Manila’s Visa Information and Appointment Service Center at (632) 976-8500, (632) 976-8501 or (632) 976-8502.

We hope this email helps you prepare for your interview.  If you are unable to obtain all of the requested documents, you may still attend your interview at the U.S. Embassy. However, if you do not bring these documents to your interview, it will delay the issuance of your visa.

Sincerely,

That is the way it reads to me.      It for sure reads different than the embassy instructions letter.

This is a link to the embassy instructions letter for the interview:  https://ph.usembassy.gov/wp-content/uploads/sites/82/2016/08/K1-and-K2-Applicant-Interview-Preparation-Instructions-08112016-English-336KB.pdf

As for the I-134, the embassy doesn't ask for the support evidence every time, it is very sporadic as to who may be asked.

Do you have your interview scheduled already?

There is a link in my signature that may be helpful for all phases of the process.

You are the first that I have bumped into that received an email from the embassy regarding their upcoming interview.

I have to ask.   How long ago did you receive your MNL # from NVC?

We received our MNL# right after Christmas (it was like a late Christmas present lol).

My fiancee had scheduled her interview for January 30.  USEM sent the e-mail January 23.

You received your MNL # by letter or did you call NVC?   When did you get your NOA2.

Sorry for the questions, this is something new.. the email from USEM.   It arrived rather quickly in comparison to the USEM letter, which never arrives.    I am just curious on the time span since your NOA2 ... the wait time between then and the letter from NVC.

The "short list" of requested documents is interesting as well.   Very helpful for everyone if this becomes the new standard for USEM.     Thanks

The typical process at USEM is listed here:   http://www.visaconnection-philippines.com/k-1-visa-application.html

I will mention CFO as it is also a requirement to complete before exiting the Philippines.  There is a link with info from the link above,  simply use the drop down menu.

I don't mind the questions.  I'm curious as well, as this specific list which USEM sent does seem very basic compared to the laundry lists which I've heard and read about.

Our NoA2 was October 31.  I called the NVC every week thereafter for six weeks, after which they could not provide me the MNL#.  By this time, it was almost Thanksgiving, and NVC said they would contact USCIS about where our file was.

I began to lose hope that we would receive our MNL# until at least the middle of January.  Then right after Christmas (December 27), I received an e-mail from NVC which provided our MNL# and said we could pay for the visa, schedule the interview, etc.

Thanks for the info!  :)

That gives me some idea as to what I think happened that you got an email from USEM "so quickly".   What I am betting is NVC received your case file from NVC, processed it, assigned the MNL # then forwarded the case file to USEM (probably around the middle to end of November) .. all this while "leaving YOU out of the loop" .. until the "search" was requested, then suddenly a month later you get the email with your MNL# (someone at NVC did an  or as I tend to say "screwed the pooch"  ).

Because of that   USEM had your case file for a month before you even got your MNL# .. ouch!     If you have received your MNL#  as you should have back in Nov you could have been done a month ago ..  << And all of that is just conjecture on my part.   Time will tell.

And of course that is all water over the dam .. it is not ROCK n ROLL time for y'all!!
