If you have the funds to start the process get to it. Then start looking for a job get the EAD expedited when you get a job offer. By the time you receive the RFE for a joint sponsor hopefully both of you will have any job and combine income to qualify.

Jails and prisons are always hiring.  It is really not a horrible job.  It’s just not one many people consider.  Look up the Connecticut Department of Corrections.  There are other jobs besides being an officer.  She could work in the store, as a typist, in the business office, in the mailroom or even something specific to her education.  I started as a Corrections Officer and it was in a male maximum security facility.  Here, the starting pay is very good.  In CT it’s probably higher.  They also have county facilities.  Some have female inmates.  She can go to the CT state civil service website and see there are all kinds of state jobs, not just in Corrections.  Some might need her to take a civil service exam which you just schedule and go.  It should be free.  Some state jobs you can just apply.  Most state jobs give paid holidays, sick days, vacation days, decent salary and retirement benefits.

My job gives full retirement at age 50 or 55 because we work with inmates.  They even feed us.  Not that the food is that great.  Jobs with the state can be great and have good career and advancement potential no matter what type of job or branch of the state interests her.  It may be listed under Bureau of State Employment in your state, I don’t know.  Good luck!

I know working at a fast food place or a restaurant or something like it sucks but dude you two are desperate and can’t be picky. There is always a job somewhere you just have to go find it. You two knew this when you filed. I think people sometimes think they can just find a way to get to the US and even though they vouched not to be a public charge they think they can find a loophole. You can literally use anyone you know who’s a US citizen or a permanent resident to be your sponsor that way you can file for AOS, get a job and all your financial troubles will go way. The longer you wait, the longer you are in limbo without money. Also, other than it being illegal, your idea of working for cash doesn’t really help you to adjust status because you can’t claim that as your sponsor for residency.

I don't understand why it's "impossible" for you to get a joint sponsor. It can be any USC or LPR over 18 years of age, living in the USA, with enough income or assets. There are over 350 million people here. Surely you can find one? If you absolutely can't, your wife needs to find a job asap.

thank you Ontarkie for your reply,

Please explainme more, if we apply for adjustment of status as my wife unemployed and we are not meeting the financial requirements will our application got accepted? and processed? yes we do have the money to apply for the AOS, what I am looking for is to get EAD to get a job, I have  tons of offers but I cannot take them the require me to supply autorization to work in USA.

so if our application is missing financial requirements the EAD will be issued and they REF us for the I-864.

what I want to know, will they issue me EAD and still REF us for not meeting fiancial requirements?

is that what you mean?

thank you

hi,

why you think we are desperate, and what makes you think my wife did not look for jobs in those places.

people are judgemental , I ask fr help regarding administrative procedures if it is possible to apply for AOS in the situation we are now , or if someone was in a likewise situation and did apply for AOS, we would like to hear his opinion.

but anyway , thank you for the help

I respect the fact that you guys probably tried everything, but did she go to a couple of temp agencies?  Also, what about the masjid?  There might be people of your nationality who have businesses who could hire her and then when you are ready to work you may have made connections.  Hospitals have a lot of jobs and people don't think to look there.  You don't have to work in a medical field.  Also, those agencies like Home Instead Senior Care and Visiting Angels are always hiring.  But that is something you have to be loving and willing to bathe people if necessary and can be a bit of work for not a lot of pay.  But, you get to know the clients and if she is a people person, it is rewarding.  Target is a good company.  The cashier job is easy.  The cash register is computerized and you can learn the job in five minutes.  They seem to be hiring all the time.  Here, they start at $10.00 per hour.  I know these things because I keep trying out second jobs, but I really don't have the capacity to do more than one.  The extra money would be nice, but I need to relax and have a normal family life with my fiancé too even if it's only on voice calling and not in person.

You really should not apply for AOS in your current position because if you are denied, you are out of the money.  Given that your wife seems to be having difficulty finding employment, there is a chance she won't be able to find it in time to answer any RFEs.  I find it ridiculously hard to believe that she can't find work.  As someone who has lived in CT and whose immigrant husband found work instantly when the unemployment levels were double what they are now, I'm going to blunt with you:  she needs to look harder or you two need to move somewhere else.  They are hiring even people out of the homeless shelters in my area to work fast food at $11/hr and the unemployment rate is close to 1%.  Make some choices.

Habibati & Habibi - If she has been unable to find work, even entry level service jobs, then she might need some assistance - tweak her resume or interview skills.  I highly recommend to reach out to your local job center: http://www.ctdol.state.ct.us/ContactInfo/Default.html

Yeah, seriously. I find it so hard to believe she can’t find a job. Specially now when there are so many seasonal jobs. I’ve never gone more than a mile without seeing a help wanted sign. They’re not looking hard enough. A job is a job. As long as it pays your bills that’s all that matters.

I originally liked this, but upon further thought, I would have to disagree. They have regularly been issuing RFIEs for the I-864 requirement prior to issuing the EAD now. Even if expedited, they are reviewing the I-864 first. So the idea to apply with an insufficient I-864, get an EAD, then send a new I-864 based on that EAD is unlikely. Or at the very least, pretty risky.

We don't know what the OP's wife has or hasn't done. Also just because McDonald's has a sign out front doesn't mean that they are hiring. All applications go through corporate and they pick certain ppl send those application to the store hiring. Many stores do this and some absolutely will not take applications in store anymore.  Also if you're over qualified for a job forget it, it's just as bad as being under qualified.

Yes I forgot about that.

Did anyone ask them if they had assets?
