Yeah just thought, given how many hours I work, it would be easier to have someone else complete it without mistakes. But you’re right. I can definitely do it myself...just wondered what the options were.

You can do it. I work fulltime and completing an MBA. I was half way through my program and I completed the paper work myself from petition to NVC and now am currently awaiting my interview next week.  My hubby is not so technical and focused and detail oriented so I did the leg work and then he reviews and signs.  You can do this. Just ensure you do your research and gather all the required documentation. Triple check everything.

Unfortunately we see cases on here every week where people post about how the lawyer/company they hired for the visa process messed up the application in one way or another that caused RFEs, delays and even denials. If I were you I would be very careful putting something so important in the hands of someone else. The only guarantee you get with a lawyers is that s/he will take your money nd fill out a form or two for you (the easy and fast part, many times they don't even do that part right) while you do the rest of the job that requires both time and effort.

I used the service you can easily find online.  A lot of it had to do with the fact it made it easy to type things in and I could ask all the questions I wanted.  They would keep proofreading it if I asked.  But, I rewrote the essay portion at least six times and they liked it every time.  They might not be academics, but look at it for correct format and completeness.  The package was tons of work.  They don’t do anything for you.  When you print it, it will say they helped you prepare it.  What I liked was that they gave a checklist of what was needed, made me call them before mailing it to them and asked me bit by bit about everything in it.  We caught a few minor things that may have mattered, like photocopying both sides of legal documents like birth certificates and name changes, etc.  Then they supposedly had three of their employees separately review my petition and package it the preferred way and sent to USCIS.  Here is the kicker—this cost $1200!  I’m glad I did it because I’m a worry-wart, but I hadn’t seen this forum yet.  Also, I bet I could have gotten free help somewhere like the library.  The $1200 is a lot of money!  That would have really gone a long way on a wedding party or to go visit again!  Ultimately, it’s up to you.  Don’t buy into the hype that if you spend more you have a better chance at approval.  And you don’t need 30 hours on your essay like I did.  I was an English major so it had to be perfect and it took a long time for me to be satisfied with it, lol.

If you hired an attorney you would still have to gather all evidence together and basically do all the leg work and he would just look it over and
send it off. Look in the guides here, follow them and if something is unclear ask questions in the forums and use the money you save
on an extra trip to see your fiance/spouse instead of paying an attorney.
Attorneys wont make the process go faster and give you a better approval rate.

This is correct

you still do all the work

they  copy it for their files and charge you upfront

and they mail it

why pay someone just to mail the packet in?

they do not help the process or fight if denied unless you pay an additonal  fee (CR1 and this is costly) and if this is  a K1 for a financee there is no appeal

So what are you willing to pay for? to have the lawyers name on your papers?

Doesn't speed things

Doesn't mean anything

I'll do it for 50% off.  I have a 100% success rate on I-129F petitions.

Either use Rapid Visa or do it yourself.

I did it myself, it’s an admin task so a lawyer will add nothing unless your case is complex.

Do not use RapidVisa, they were the ones that screwed over a VJ member.

I remember one poor guy who could've filed via DCF but hired RapidVisa and they didn't even mention the DCF option to him. So his case would now take at least twice as long as it would have if he had only asked here on visajourney first and not had RapidVisa "guide" him.

Wasted 8 months or so and he used them to save time.

And they refused to fix it.

Not to say they are infallible, however aren’t a large number of people praising Rapid Visa for their level of service? Is it a one off issue or a recurring problem?

As as I said I did it myself however I have heard multiple positive feedbacks on RV.

We have seen multiple screw ups.

If you have a no problem case you can fill the forms in yourself, you do need somebody to do it for you.

If you charge a lot of money for a very simple task to people who do not realise then I guess positive reviews will happen.

Thanks all. I went though all of the forms and feedback on this site and downloaded everything. Our petition seems fairly straightforward—both divorced (have to get his divorce papers translated), he has no kids, no arrests, no convictions. We have both lived and worked at two or fewer places in the past five years. I just have to fill in all the info, get the translation, get passport photos of us both, and gather the “evidence” lol. I can definitely handle this one on my own. Thanks for the feedback!

I'm confident you are able to handle the task.  When in doubt, come back here to ask your questions.

Also, they have to justify to themselves that it was worth it $$$
