Go to a different orifice or ask for a supervisor if necessary. 

 

The timeframe for these bloody stamps is not written down anywhere aside from a couple of memos, hence the ambiguity. Pretty bloody obvious that you need a stamp to travel, as you are fully allowed to do as a a LPR who has filed an I-751.

Also tell them that you need it to renew state ID and employment verification purposes.

 

 

 

For reference, I got one of my stamps done 60 days before expiry, and another one with seven months validity remaining on the previous one (albeit the latter under unusual circumstances) .

Is is the norm to get them within one month of expiry, and indeed many people get turned away if asking for one before that.

 

 

 

As for the passport /citizenship stuff she spouted - pure BS.

 

 

Unfortunately there are are many idiots in USCIS who like to make it up as they go and state it as fact- you seem to have encountered a perfect example.

Go back and try again.

The link that @missileman posted does say they should do it if it's needed for travel purposes when it's about to expire.

Still searching.......haven't found anything else yet.......Have you tried calling USCIS?

yes and I told the officer and she said if is not in writting in the USCIS page she will not do it...seems I find a bad day lady...twice!

If I were you, I would immediately contact my Senator's office to request an emergency intervention.........because I think the USCIS people with whom you spoke are not being reasonable......

Unfortunately this is America and your tone  and  how you approach certain people goes a long way. It sucks, I know but being granted a greencard or a stamp in your passport is a privilege and not a right. 

Everyone's journey is different and because it worked for other people on here, doesn't mean it will work for you.

Yes, it's unreasonable.  But we are now entering the last working day of the year (or less) and OP stated having a Saturday departure.  While I agree that the situation should have been resolved previously (and easily), this is by no means considered an emergency situation as there is no medical emergency, death in family, or any other type of emergency.  OP can still leave for vacation but needs to return prior to the expiration notice.

It actually is a right, since she's an LPR that requires it for a bona fide reason. 

 

I would ask for a supervisor and/or contact one of your congressional representatives' offices for emergency assistance - if any are actually around to help you right now.

The OP has already been granted permanent residency, and they are not applying for any sort of privilege.

They are merely obtaining (or trying to at any rate) proof of their status, as is their right and responsibility as a lawful permanent resident, and as written in immigration law.

 

Do not forget that they have also paid for this service....and the whole reason these bloody stamps are needed is because USCIS can't keep to their own timescales in the first place.

I'd go to a different Infopass office and ask to be seen for the i551 stamp.. be firm but polite.

Show the tickets, and evidence of the previous two appointments. Tell em you're taking time off from work the third time.

Going to a different office? That might be very difficult to do, depending on where the OP lives.

 

But yeah, I'd make another appointment, bring as much documentation as possible, and hope you don't get stuck with another nimrod. And as you said, be firm but polite.
