I'd say being a member of the "MS-13 gang" is probably more responsible for the kid's death.

Kind like saying the snow storm that caused you to slide off the road into the ditch is a contributing factor but the head trauma from hitting the windshield is what kilt you .

I think a better analogy would be deciding to drive on the road being a contributing factor. The skidding off the road is closer to him being a gang member (since the actual cause of death is the gun shot wound). Being released from jail would be like getting into the car.

 

Also, I know nothing of the gang but I'd imagine he would either still be in the same gang in Honduras if he was sent back, or in a different gang. While said, I'm not sure his personal outcome was going to be much different.

Just looked up the gang.

 

The article DEFINITELY should be changed to "Sanctuary policy blamed for death of MS-13 gang member on American soil"...

 

The dude was in an international criminal gang. If he had been deported to Honduras he still would have been in the gang, and I'd imagine his life expectancy would have been similar (if not worse).
