Hello,

My wife  went the whole process from k-1 Visa to getting married in the US, now On Sept 2017 we sent her papers for adjustment of status I-751 since her two year was over now in Dec. I see that California is taking for ever for that process... I really hope she gets it before december of next year.

My question is #1: If she doesnt get it can she still apply for citizenship right before the 3 years of marriage? Yes im a US Citizen and we have been married for over two years.

#2: Can she still travel outside the US with expeired green card and the letter from INS?

1. yes.

2. yes, for the first year. If she hasn't received her new GC by the end of the 1st year extension, she can make an appointment with her local office and receive a stamp that extends it for a second year, good for traveling outside the US.

We just got the green card today.  It was processed at California center.  I took 16 months.  It seems they have gotten slower this year.  Since it took longer, we did go to the local office and get a passport stamp prior to the 1 year expiration.  The stamp is good for another year but wont be necessary now with the green card.
