Hey all,

I'm very very excited! Today i got a phone call from my mum to say a letter had come from the US embassy in London - it was packet 4. The interview date for my K1 visa is 21st May. We have our wedding planned for the 24th June. Things are going according to plan.

INFO FOR PEOPLE WAITING FOR LONDON EMBASSY

Now - I wanted to share some idea of the wait times I've experienced since receiving packet 3 (in case any other UKers are waiting anxiously as I have been)!

- I received packet 3 around the 10th March. A week later I posted back the requested forms (DS-230 – Part I, DS-156, DS-156K and DS-157)

- I applied for my Police Certificate - it arrived at the beginning of April.

- I sent the checklist to the Embassy around the 10th April.

- Today (26th April), I received Packet 4.

- Interview date set for 21st May.

From receiving packet 3 - interview = around 70/75 days.

I've been panicking for the last weeks if things would come through on time.

THE LONDON INTERVIEW - QUESTIONS

I have collected together pretty much everything I need for the interview - my fiance is posting me the last things through.

As regards the interview itself - I've gotten together a lot of material, do I need much proof of our ongoing relationship since we submitted the 129F package? I've got some photos, some letters, emails, her ticket stubs when she visited me at Christmas. Is this enough?

Honestly - is the interview a worrysome experience? I am a terrible worrier - I will be nervous on the day. Is the interview itself an ordeal? Are the people dealing with the case going to be friendly? I will search Visa Journey to see if people have posted on their experiences.

Is it good practice to speak when spoken to and not give info out unless asked for it?

My police record is completely clean. My medical should be completely clean. I feel that I have plenty of evidence. And I have filled in all the documents. In your experience, everyone, is there any reason why I wouldn't be given a visa. I.e - do many people with all the requested info and clean checks get denied K1 visas?

Proof of ongoing relationship is always a good idea to take with you, I didn't though but I wasn't asked for any.

Click here for reviews of the UK embassy. They are pretty friendly there, the interview is in two parts. I was nervous and worried, but only cause thats what I am like, there wasn't really any need to be as they are pretty good there.

Good luck!

We (Americans) don't bite. Most of the people you will encounter on the day will be British, like you. The person who interviews you may be American, or they may not be. We met only one American employee the entire time we were there; it was the guy who did the second half of the interview.

One thing about American government employees...they usually have no sense of humor and don't like to joke. They may seem short, abrupt, or even a little bit rude. Don't worry and don't take it personally; they're pretty much all that way, from clerks at the DPS (to get your driver's license) to post offices to IRS field offices to embassies abroad. They must send them on a course to teach them to behave that way.
