So I am getting ready to mail out the I-129F form and I see that her photos are not 2" x 2" but rather 1.5" x 1.5".  Can I use these photos as part of the submission process?  or should I have her mail me 2" x 2 " photos?

Regards,

Chris

You will likely receive an RFE for new passport photos if you send the 1.5" x 1.5 photos. I would have her mail you new 2" x 2 " photos, as that is what is required by USCIS.

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but is there anything that can be done to prevent an RFE if the petition has already been sent and I just now realized my fiance's picture was the wrong size? I'm pretty sure her picture was 1.5"x1.5" but I didn't know it would be a big deal.

Do you have a scanner?  Scan/resize and reprint if you have that capability

YMMV

You can try to follow up with the correct size photos but there is no guarantee that the subsequent submission will ever get married up to the original submission

Do you think I should contact the service center to ask?

If you can find a number that someone will even answer, no harm no foul, but I think it is an exercise in futility

So you're saying waiting for an RFE is my only realistic option

While many believe the wrong picture size will generate and RFE, it may or it may not.  If it were me, I would have the correct sized photo at the ready in the event an RFE is generated and get it back to them ASAP if that is what occurs

Thanks. I was already planning to do that if I couldn't fix it before they caught it

Reading other sites on this topic, it has been reported that the USCIS appears to have some level of tolerance on the photo size for the petition, as the US is about the only country that uses 2 x 2 (5cm x 5cm) passport photo size.  The rest of the world is beginning to adopt a more standard size that is slightly different that 2 x 2.  What the actual tolerance level is not known but it appears that it is not an issue if the photo size is "close."  What does "close" mean?  I don't know.

Don't make the same error on the photo size for the visa.  2 x 2 photos can be found in the PI and sometimes are referred to as visa size versus passport size

Thanks. I'll talk to her about this
