ROC evidence

I'm a bit worried about evidence... so I'm coming on here in advance. All I can really think of is my life insurance and 401k shows him as the beneficiary (my husband doesn't have any) and we have a joint bank account. My husband is always working so all the bills are still in his name and we are currently renting from his parents (although that may change in the next 6 months) and so we have no rental agreement. I have a learner permit which has our address on it. I've looked at what others have and it seems like I have hardly any evidence even though we have been living together just over a year now and will be nearly 2 years when we are applying for ROC (in 6 months).

Some ideas

- Notorized Health Care proxie statements

- Create wills with each other as beneficiaries

-  Your husband's parents can (and should) draw up a written rental agreement with both your names

-  Apply for a joint credit card at a local store or bank

-  Your husband can add you as an authorized user to an existing credit card.

-  Airline tickets, etc. which show you two experiencing life as a couple

Good Luck....

That's the problem... we are both covered by our own work insurance (not together). The only place we have been since we got married out of state is South Carolina for 3 days and we drove down there. Everything is in his name except our joint bank account (both our wages are deposited there). That's why I am slightly confused as to what we can use. We file our W2 together every year and put both our kids on there. We both work a lot so we don't really go anywhere...

Hi, don't panic yet. You may still have enough time. I have a couple of suggestions in your case.

Here, I believe are important (if not must) joint evidences:

-IRS Tax transcripts (from marriage to latest)

-at least one joint bank account and its statements

So it's good that you have a joint bank account. Make sure to include statements from month of your marriage till latest one before filing.

Did you file your taxes as married jointly?

As long as you have both of those, anything else can just be supplementary and up to you on how you present your case to prove that your relationship has been ongoing from marriage to ROC filing.

If you don't have the standard evidences such as lease, bills and major insurances, you can get creative.

I would suggest the following:

-Photos (timeline it from date of your wedding up to present time) --as much as possible, photos of specific events. Pictures with friends and family would be highly recommended.

-Affidavits from friends and family -- perhaps I would include 4 or more in your case. Affidavits do not have to be notarized btw. Notarized ones are better but as long they state "I swear under penalty of perjury that the foregoing is true and correct to the best of my knowledge" they should be fine. And of course include the affidavit guidelines of information needed on each affidavit as per USCIS https://www.uscis.gov/i-751

-Sign up for Magazine Subscriptions with both your names and have them mailed to your address. You can still get 6 months worth of these before your filing date.

-Gather greeting cards sent to you and your husband spanning the two years of marriage (at two from each year showing same address of residence)

-Get Home Renters Insurance (these are not expensive and will at least serve as proof of communal residence; check Geico and Liberty Mutual)

-Have your parents create a notarized letter stating that you live with them (I agree with everyone on this)

-driver's licenses/ids/permits showing both have same address (it's good that you already have this)

If you're evidences are still running thin, add random mails sent to you and your husband as long as it shows that you both reside in the same address. But present them in an organized and timelined order.

Breathe in, take it easy, but do act now. God Bless! Wish you and your spouse the best! Don't forget to enjoy the holidays! :)
