Good Morning,

My name is Beatrice and i'm an international student in Boston. I am sending this because I'm still waiting for the approval of my OPT, sent in October.

If I enter my OPT status page, what I find is " we received your application in.......(with the October date)

In your opinion, how long should I still have to wait before receiving an answer? approved/denied ?

I feel I need time enough to be able to find a job, but at the same time ( denial ) to figure out what to do with my career!

Thank you so much for the responses!

Beatrice

Thank you for your answers, guys!

I opened a case and hopefully they will answer me.

My other question is: if my grace period ends on Feb, and I potentially apply for the OPT in January, without receiving any answer from USCIS during the whole period, will I still be legal until they will give me an answer or not ( even further the 60 days of grace period) ? thank you

I think it depends if you are a graduate student or an undergraduate student.

The latest you can apply is 60 days after you completed the program. But I think they discount the days that you are waiting for the OPT from your OPT. As far as I remember, they do that so that people do not apply at the last minute to stay longer in the US.

I applied early because I wanted the OPT as soon as I completed my program.
