Question about CRBA

Hi everyone, I have a question about the CRBA and passport process for my newborn coming on the way

I am a expecting a baby from my "alien" wife in Jordan. Her immigration visa is not complete so we are still waiting on that. The baby should be due in a month God willing. I will be applying for a CRBA and passport for my newborn but I heard both parents must be present. I would rather go to the appointment myself since I am the US citizen. Seeing as I am in the US citizen and can't travel to Jordan due to my work, she will have to go by herself. But I thought about another way. That's applying for the CRBA and passport for my newborn here in the US. Is It possible to do that without the baby and her mother present? Do I need to apply for CRBA/passport where the child is born?

CRBA is applied for and issued abroad.

Check the US Embassy website for CRBA requirements

Appearance in person of BOTH parents AND the child. The child being reported, and both parents, must appear in person at the Embassy. If one parent is not in Jordan, he or she may submit a notarized letter authorizing the other parent to apply for the CRBA and/or passport. This letter must state the child’s name, the name of the parent not present, and it must be signed and notarized by a U.S. notary or at the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.
