That is demeaning to Victims of Domestic Violence.  It took police telling me what I was going through was domestic violence before I could admit what I was experiencing wasn't normal in a healthy relationship.

  I once had a relationship where the other half would point guns at me and threaten to remove body parts unique to the female anatomy.  Because he didn't touch me , you say I didn't need 911 and protection ?     The idea that just because you are not  actually bloody and bruised you don't need protection is so wrong.

Not sure that's what they were getting at, that's something to definitely call 911 for, although sometimes they don't even do anything as I've seen in real life, not that they're not supposed to, just laziness.
