We are trying to find joint sponsor but you know people are so weird..is there any responsibilities being joint sponsor?? Hate asking for favors 😬😬

They take over FULL responsibility for the next 10 years. No one should sign a co-sponsor without being very close to the immigrant.

It is no problem asking questions and I will answer where I can. A co-sponsor will basically assume all financial responsibilities for the intended immigrant for a certain amount of time.

Basically what that means is whoever signs the 1-864a guarantees that the immigrant (your wife or fiancee) will not become a public charge (end up on food stamps, WIC or public assistant) in the event that the marriage or relationship does not work out. I do not remeber the exact time frame but I believe it could be 5 or 7 years from when the immigrant arrives in the US.

In my opinion, if you have a solid relationship or marriage, you should be fine and the person/people that you ask to co-sign for you would be fine with doing it.

Good luck, if you have any more questions please feel free to ask

Just a couple of minor points...

It is a joint sponsor not co sponsor

Sponsor is responsible until person has earned 40 social security quarters OR has become a USC OR has died.... so it may not be for 10 years..

Correct form that joint sponsor completes is I864 ....   I864a is used by a household member of the sponsor .. if needed.... to affirm additional income or agreement to using joint household income to meet financial requirements.

Thank you for the additional points, I was not full sure on the time frame!

Not a problem.. you phrased it the right way by explaining that you weren't sure...😁

I will only speak to what I am sure of but I am not afraid to say I do not know or I am unsure and someone with more knowledge needs to step in!

Thank you for the added information to help!

Work?  The income requirements for a 2 person household are quite low.

OP, on your first post you said you have $70k in the bank. My understanding is that the K1 follows the 3x rule for asset for a spouse which for 2017 would be $60,900 for a household of 2. I have a follow up question, are you able to document where these funds came from? It won't fly if the money just got deposited into your account recently.

If you are getting rental income from overseas, you need to report this if it meets the IRS threshold for filing. Depending on the amount of rental income, you may be required to file.

you just writing to write something..hellooo we need to send last two years tax returns..even i start to work now its not going to work

I don't know why you are arguing with everyone when they give you advice.  The income requirements are based on current income extrapolated to a yearly value, not necessarily 2 years of employment history.  That just shows history, which you don't even need with the amount of assets you have.

LOL, why would I need to feel relief (it's not my VJ). Again I think it's actually 3x for K1 based on what I've read and heard.

Did you get the $70k recently? You'll need to have documentation of how you got the money.

I'm also being serious about having to file your oversea income if you meet the threshold for filing. IRS looks at worldwide income, but this income could be exempt.

you’r wrong..we need to submit last 2 years tax returns.. i’m not arguing with anyone..i just can’t stand people who dont have idea what they are writing about

It's current income. You could have been a millionnaire two years ago, if you do not have sufficient income or assets now, you'll still need a co-sponsor.
