Marital Status Documents

I am single and have never married before.

Does my fiance (in VietNam) need any kind of marital document from me for the interview?

Or does she only need one for her?

How can you provide marital documents if you have never been married?  The USC's free to marry requirement was dealt with at the petition stage.  If there was any question about you then the petition would have never been approved.

YMMV

She may not need one, either, but doesn't hurt to get one just in case. It costs so little to get one but she may need to "expedite" the process with coffee money.

She has one on her end for her status. I was just confused whether I needed one or not.

I was just confused and wanted to be sure. Thanks for the reply.

No such thing as a "single, never married" paper in the U.S.  My VN fiance tried to get a "single" paper in Vietnam. It does not exist in her province. You don't need anything.

My fiancee got one but CO didn't look at it. it has expiration of 6 months so plan accordingly if you do get one. My fiancee needed a copy of my U.S. passport to get one issued.

I don't think it is really necessary but your choice and if they do ask for it you can always get one.  No woprries/.

I'm compiling the petition packet and have asked my fiance to see if she can start putting together her documents as well.  She went to their local police station and was told they won't do a marital status document without a letter from the embassy.  She's never been married.  Are they just being unhelpful or will she need something from the embassy?  Also, thanks for the note that it expires after 6 months.

My then-fiancee went to her local People's Office (Uy Ban Nhan Dan), not police station, and they made her fill out a standard form and issued one on the spot for 2,000 VND (about less than 10 US cents!) No embassy paper. No coffee money. No wait.
