I got it this afternoon and I love it, I will see if using it on a regular basis will help the shedding. My cat doesn't mind it but he tries to eat the fur that floats around. It is a messy job.. so use it where you can easily clean up.

while it is sheddng season, and everyone is ging to be seeing lots and lots of fur these days, excessive shedding could also be caused by health problems like food allergies, or poor diet. And with all these pet food recalls lately, it could be anything!!

If after several brushings you still notice a lot of shedding, you might want to consider changing foods. Check the ingredients lists for ash content, corn, and other grains content. These will cause skin irriations and allerigies, and urinary and intestinal problems in some cats.

With the recent pet food recals, I'd just stear clear of anything that has wheat gluten, rice protien, or corn of any type in it. Grains are not particularly good for cats (or dogs), and most pet food manufacturers only use them because its cheaper than using actual meat. Cats are carnivores, they need meat protien. And you don't need to spend a fortune to get a decent food. Dry foods are also better for them for dental care. Wet/Canned foods just help to rot their teeth.

Check out the forums at Catster.com

I hate too keep harping on food qualities, but it really does make a difference in a cats life. And if it helps to reduce some shedding and dander, it'll make a difference in your life too!

btw, I've been thinking of getting a Maine ####### cat for George. They're about the biggest domestics I can think of, and we need something big so it doesn't get squished! ;) I miss having a cat around to yell at me for no apparent reason.

Siberian males get very large as well. We have 1 female and a 4.5 month male Siberian. They produce a lot less of the protien in the dander that people can be allergic to , thus many cat allergy suffers do ok with Siberians. Going to look more into that furminator!! We feed out cats felliadae, all top notch feed, and all made in the USA.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
