HI cat owners,

Our kitty started to shed like crazy!!! I comb her about 4 times a day (she hates it, even though I am very gentle with her and give her treats), each time I have a HUGE amount of hair in the comb, but I never get it all.

I found the so called FURminator online and there are good reviews, but I'd like to know if anyone of you uses that product. Here the link: FURminator

It is really expensive for a brush, but if it really helps I am willing to spend that money..... Thank you!!!! :) :) :)

Edit: She's a Maine ####### mix with a bushy furry tail, and she has long hair everywhere apart from her legs....

Dude!

I got entranced by that tool at some home show thingie we were at and decided to go for it. Ms Picky LOVES it and it works like nobody's business.. amazing. And our kitty is a shorthair.. it STILL pulls out undercoat AND she tolerates (LOVES) it. I was really sceptical, but very pleased.

One of my clients has a long haired cat that is a real stinker, always clawing you or running away---SHE loves it too!

You've got four thumbs up from out west.

It looks like an expensive hairbrush...but I could be wrong. My main experience is with horses and their spring shed. The only way to deal with it is to brush, brush, and brush some more. Good luck though :)

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

How do I know if my cat's a long or shorthair?

She sheds like crazy and it grosses me out...but she loves being brushed with a reg fur brush, but like your cat, mine still sheds :(

My cat is a grey tabby. I think thats a short hair. she sheds like crazy. Brush brush brush is the only solution, but if this brsh really works I would pay the money for it. I'm seriously thinking about wallking over to Petsmart right now!

Incidentally, I think I saw a similar brush in Wal mart for like 15 bucks. I'll check it out when I go this Sunday and get back to you guys....

We have a white shorthair who sheds too - she tends to leave odd loose hairs lying around. With the longhair it seems to be big feathery clumps that blow around the place at the smallest breeze.

All the ones I've owned. But not, I suspect, the bald ones. Perhaps I should take my in for some electrolysis treatment.

HAHAHAHAH! Oh shush you...I read the bit in red and somehow I thought 'do shorthairs not usually shed?'

I need coffee.

I think I will buy it tonight. :) Need to wait for the car. Rrrr Petsmart is only 3 miles from here....

Our cat was classified as domestic medium hair, but she simply just sheds. ;) Mawilson I love that little critter in the shredder. How cute!!!! :) :)

I will write a review tomorrow. Man our cat looses so much hair these days. But she produces no hairballs at all for some reason. Btw ours didn't shed til recently, maybe she's getting a summer coat (though I thought indoors shed constantly)?????

photos.yahoo.com/niadara (look for Mausi pix - the little shedding monster!!!!)

As a former groomer, I can tell you the whole furminator line is awesome! The medium sized tool works better than the smaller blue one. For those with pooches they have a shampoo and conditioning system that is out of this world for shedding! Best used on short haired animals.

Edited: Sorry just read your kitty is a long hair. It works okay but still not as well as it does on short hair. Just ask about the return policy then if it doesn't work take it back and try a comb instead.

Anyone who buys this or any other brush for that matter be very careful not to brush to long in the same area, otherwise you will cause some serious skin problems. Three to four passes in one spot should be more than enough.
