Getting separated/divorced while I-751 & N-400 are pending... Chances of jeopardizing the applications?

Greetings All.  I have just filed N-400 based upon the three-year spouse ruling in November 2017, thinking that would make the removal of conditions I-751 faster as I haven't heard anything since I filed it in November 2016. Now my husband is undergoing some emotional instabilities and is seeking separation or even divorce abandoning all our memories in the past years... I've been trying my very, very best to restore and fix our relationship but in case things don't work out, my question would be:

  • Would going into separation while the application is pending jeopardize my I-751 application? I understand going into either separation or divorce would make the N-400 citizenship application out of question as I would no longer qualify for the three-year spouse rule. Now I just wanted to at least secure my I-751 and get my 10-year green card for now.

I honestly regret filing my N-400 that fast but during that point of time we were happy little birds. Who would have known things could go downslope this quickly... Please provide me with some directions. Thank you all very much!
