AP is most commonly used as an acronym for Advance Parole.

AP is a reentry permit that allows the applicant to travel internationally and return to the US within its validity period.  It is highly recommended to apply for this while adjusting status in the US. If you do not have AP and leave the US for any reason while adjusting status your application is considered abandoned.

AP is obtained by submitting an I-131 Application for Travel Document and can be filed alongside the I-485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status (or thereafter) at no additional fee.

This would only be applicable for the K1 route in your situation, OP.  It is not necessary when filing for a CR1/IR1, as there is need to adjust status.

AP is currently taking around 4 months after the application from being accepted to successfully approved by USCIS.

I believe in this case AP refers to administrative processing as explained by Paxyibka

Administrative Processing.  Means the visa was not approvable at the time of the interview and they need more time to investigate.  AP can take from days to years to resolve.  Sometimes the result is a denial

My 2 cents: processing of K-1 certainly also depends on the country. I wanted to be with my now-husband as soon as possible (and also wanted for him to come and experience US  before he fully officially committed to staying with me here), so K-1 was a much better option for us: both faster in terms of him getting here, and also making it possible for him to experience American life, meet my family,  before tying the knot. Yes, there is a processing delay for work & travel; however, depending on a state you can get a valid drivers license before all that. You could also do English courses at a local college / YMCA / volunteer, etc, etc to keep busy while waiting for EAD/AP (permission to work and travel) - though it depends on how many opportunities for such socialization are in your area.

I know many people advised you to do CR-1, but if this is the first time you're meeting, having a HUGE *marriage expectation* looming right over your first meeting might be nerve-wracking! Give yourself and her time to get to know each other, learn on that trip, and decide if you're going for K-1 or CR-1 then. You'll know best what fits your situation, and, again, if it's just about having your loved one in your arms ASAP, then maybe K1 is a better option. it definitely was for us. :)

K1 is not a try it out and see how it ges Visa despite what the TV Shows may suggest, you have to commit to marry.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

I would advise you to analyze both the K-1 visa and the CR-1 visa, decide which one best fits your situation, then apply.  You should be completely truthful  I'm sorry, but trying to "game" the system will result in more problems.

My personal opinion:

The K-1  only faster (and not much faster at all) until both people are together in the US.  From every other aspect, the K-1 is much slower....and MUCH more expensive.

K-1

Ability to travel outside the US after marriage- restricted until A/P is APPROVED- about 4 months or longer after applying for AOS/AP/EAD.

Ability to work after marriage- restricted until EAD is APPROVED- 4 months or longer

Green Card in hand after marriage- about a year....after applying for AOS.

Must apply for AOS to receive Green Card and obtain legal status in US

CR-1

Immigrant is free to travel outside US immediately upon arrival in US

Immigrant is free to work immediately upon arrival in US

Green Card is hand within 2 or 3 weeks (in many cases) after entry into US.

No need to AOS.

All things considered, I think the CR-1 is superior.  But only you know your own situation.

Best of luck.

Ah yes, I see.  I clarified AP as it was used as a reference here but missed the later usage regarding Administrative Processing.  Tricky business with these acronyms.  Cheers for the heads up.
