Greetings!

This question is specifically directed to the petitioners going through the Ghana Embassy.

Petition: CR-1

Quick Recap of our experience with the Embassy:

We had an interview on October 23, 2017 and after the interview my husband was told that his visa is on hold awaiting administrative processing someone would give him a call however, they didn't specify when he would receive a call.  I reached out to my Senators Office and the Ghana Embassy.  They informed me that it was undergoing necessary administrative processing blah..blah.   However on  November 21 he received a phone call to bring his passport  to the Embassy the next day.  So on November 22 he arrived at the Embassy and received instructions to take his passport to DHL.  He signed  a sheet of paper received instructions and left his passport with DHL at that time.  However, in the midst of all of this reached out to my Senators office again after hearing nothing for weeks so finally on December 7th the Consulate responds to my Senators office that the administrative processing had been concluded and they were finalizing his application and expected it to be finalized shortly.  Still its now December 20th and he has yet to receive his passport.  However on the Ceac visa  tracking website it states that once administrative processing has been complete the visa should come available within 2 business days.  Still nothing we are still waiting and have been in this immigrations process for over 16 months.  Its so exhausting (we thought he would be home for Christmas)  if anyone can shed any light or provide any valuable insight my family and I would greatly appreciate it.  Thank you!  Happy Holidays!

My Husband's Visa was issued 11/29. We still have not been able to pick up his passport from DHL. He has been there a total of 4 times. I am not sure what the delay is. One individual advised me that her husband interviewed on 12/6 and they received an email on 12/10 that the passport was available for pick up. Lol, I am so confused and the embassy is SO unorganized. I have reached out to my senator. Next week it will be a full month that we have been waiting. My husband has missed his scheduled flight, and my mother's memorial funeral service as well. This has been an absolute nightmare.

@Naa Atswei  I feel your pain!  Tomorrow makes a month since my husband turned his passport over to DHL.  I have already had to reschedule his flight once looks as if I will be doing that again this weekend.  It's very frustrating to say the least.  The Embassy is horrible.  He missed Thanksgiving, now Christmas and looks like New Year's too.  The Embassy will also be closed Monday and Tuesday  of next week for Christmas on the 25th and Boxing Day on the 26th.  I'm truly at a lost for words.  Our process was smooth sailing until we reached Ghana Embassy.  If they have inadequate staff they need to hire more help.  Over 16 months of waiting.  Then I have family waiting as well...like everyday I get a text or call have you heard anything yet?  Will he be here for Christmas?  Is he coming?  Does he want to come?  What's taking so long if he is approved?  May God be with you guys!

I'm so sorry for you guys. It's the same sad song for us. It's so frustrating. Friday it will be one FULL MONTH for us as well. I have reached out to the Senator's office, but they too are waiting to hear back something. Apparently my husband's friends mom has a friend or contact in the embassy so come tomorrow they are supposed to look up our case and see what the hell is the hold up. I mean to make someone miss a flight, that's alot of money to rebook. I'm so discouraged. Good luck to both of us.

@Naa Atswei Omg so our case was updated today via Visa Tracker.  So apparently according to NVC (National Visa Center) someone responded to an email (probably the one sent by my Senators Office) stating that the printers are down at the Ghana Embassy so they are experiencing technical difficulties.  Like how horrible is that!  I can't make this stuff up.  Awful!

@Naa Atswei This is the response I received from the Senators office:

(This response was sent from the Ghana Embassy to my Senators Office yesterday 12-27-17.)

Apologies for the delay in responding. Thank you for your patience. We are having a systems problem that is affecting a small percentage of cases, and unfortunately, Mr. *******

case is being affected by the outage. We are unable to print his visa until the systems problem is cleared up. We will print his visa as soon as we are able to do so. I’m sorry I don’t have a more satisfactory answer to this problem – we are understand that applicants are very frustrated by it, we are too.

Thank you,

Is anyone experiencing delays at the Ghana Embassy for their visa to be printed? They have had my husband passport for over a month now.  They responded to my Senators office last week stating that they were experiencing system errors and its effecting a small percentage of applicants and ours (petition)  was in that small percentage (how convenient).   We have had to reschedule his flight twice due to these circumstances.  We never knew it would take this long for him to retrieve his passport or we would not have booked his flight.  This is so horrible over 16 months waiting, reach the finish line to hear the system is experiencing errors (which is why they can't print the visa).  Looking for any insight from anyone who may have experienced delays in the past or presently going through a delay.  Thank you.

Warmest Regards!

@payxibka very true..I'm aware.  However, it still doesn't excuse the Embassy for such an inexcusable excuse.  Someone application has been approved only to be told but oh, I can't print the visa because the printers are down.  Here in America printers are disposable however, in Ghana it stops a whole operation as an American its hard to phantom...seriously.  Then after prolong waiting for over a month because you are placed into  administrative review (no documents requested) amid your interview then have that concluded only to still be waiting now on printers to be fixed so you can have your  visa printed...  its horrible to say the least.
