Notice Date 5/5/18

Letter received 5/12/18

"USCIS has received your form and is currently processing your app...This notice informs you that USCIS is able to reuse your previously captured fingerprints and other biometrics. USCIS will run the same security checks and use your bio data as in the past however it is not necessary for you to appear at an ASC for a biometrics appointment(it is actually bolded in letter). The bio fee will not be refunded".

At least they saved us a 6 hour round trip!

the myaccount.uscis site does not reflect this notification.

They also processed our address change correctly too. Sent it to the right address. Whew!

Same here. Also with the change of address.

Hey everyone,  I think everyone who got your biometrics letter now should know that this seems like a mass-automated-reply to pretty much a certain months of filers (after i went thru several other posts)

Got my letter saying previous bio metrics will be used.

I agree that this was a move to just pacify people who must have been calling USCIS to check the status

Just wondering why most of you don’t have to go to get your biometrics taken? Is it a bad sign that i have to go?

That means it will only be sent to those who kept calling uscis. Because I only called once back on February and I didn't received any letter regarding biometrics.

I didn’t call them at all, not once, and still got the letter. The only thing I did was do 1 online inquiry back in March to which they responded. I’ve just been waiting in silence since then. I’m not too antsy though since citizenship is our ultimate goal and will move forward to the next process next year whether this one is done or not.

I dont think its a way way to shut us up necessarily, I think they are trying to get the ball moving even if it means reusing biometrics for some of us.

I would tend to disagree. I never 'called' USCIS, but opened an inquiry into our 'missing' Biometrics letter back in February. My wife and I went to out local ASC in early April and tried to get worked in for Biometrics, and the Immigration's officer in charge took us into his office and showed us our complete USCIS Case File on his computer. The last Update shown was when my wife's green card was issued in April of 2016. He explained that CSC was so back-logged, that the petitions they were receiving were just piling up, and had yet to be entered into the system. When they DO FINALLY Enter the petition into the system, it generates the Biometrics appointment letter, With a special Bar Code that is required in order to have your biometrics taken, as is is the only way the ASC has to 'Link-Up' the biometrics to your case file.

My suspicion is that because of the tremendous back-log, CSC has been entering in our I-751 petitions, and then after verifying that the case has previous biometrics on file, are over-riding the bar-code and biometrics letter, so that there is no further delay of waiting for biometrics to be taken again. This procedure will allow those petition to be loaded into the processing Que, without waiting for the biometrics loop. They may be required to have a certain percentage of biometrics renewed to meet their guidelines or quota requirements, and those would likely be randomly selected.

Thank you for such a detailed explanation. I was getting concerned because I haven't received any letter of bio just like everyone is been having the past few days.

That's why we are all on this thread, to share information with each other and make the waiting process a bit less like being in solitary confinement.

After biometrics are either re-taken or deemed unnecessary, the next step we must prepare for is getting an I-551 stamp in the green-card holder's passport.

When there are less than 30 days remaining on the 1-year extension letter that we received, you must begin trying to make an appointment with the local Field Office, (not the local ASC), to get the I-551 stamp.

After the letter expires, the stamp is the only thing that allows continued legal presence in the US, as well as granting the ability to travel outside the country AND return while still waiting for the I-751 process to be completed and the new 'Permanent' (10-year) green card to be issued.

You're right, because the process seems very slow at this point. Also, can we apply for citizenship even if we don't have the conditions removed?

From what I have read on other posts, once your I-751 is in the system and processing (biometrics letter received), you can apply for citizenship and have those two processing simultaneously. From what others in the past have posted, it can actually speed up the process, and some had a single interview for both petitions at the same time.

As for my wife and me, South Korea does not allow dual citizenship, so she will not be applying to become a US citizen. After her permanent green card is in hand, Sometime in that 10-year window, we plan to move to South Korea, and then I will be the card carrying resident alien. The entire process in South Korea only takes about 4 to 6 WEEKS, rather than the approximate 4 1/2 years this process here is dragging on.... ( I-131 filing, waiting, processing, K-1 Visa issued, travel to US, marriage within 90 days, Adjustment of Status & Affidavit of Support, wait, wait, wait, TEMPORARY green card issued, Wait another 21 months, File I-751, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, for about 21 more months, FINALLY, (HOPEFULLY) a 'Permanent' (10-year) green card issued. So Much Red Tape. Inconceivably Unbelievable.

Happy Mother's Day

We received our biometrics letter (it said they will reuse our information) from the CSC on 5/12/2018.  It was dated 5/5/2018.

Thanks for keeping track of all these dates!!

That means it will only be sent to those who kept calling uscis. Because I only called once back on February and I didn't received any letter regarding biometrics.

I haven’t called us is even once. I still received the letter

Got our biometrics letter. No appointment for Luis. It says:

"USCIS has received your form and is currently processing your application. This notice informs you that USCIS is able to reuse your previously captured fingerprints and biometrics. USCIS will run the same security checks and use your biometrics data as in the past, , it is NOT necessary for you to appear at a USCIS ASC for a biometrics appointment. The biometrics fee will NOT be refunded."

So technically we received our Bio Appointment letter to be told we don't have to have an appointment.

Please update our information in the spreadsheet.

Thanks!

got the same letter yesterday (5/12/2018)
