I got a weird email this morning not sure if anyone else got it.

I never called and requested any information since ive filed my case, however I got an email stating

"we are still reviewing your case and there are no updates at this time, we will notify you when your case status changes. We last took action on your case on March 13, 2018".

I log into my uscis case status and all it says is fingerprint fee received on January 29

Anyone else got this email?

I got the same emails yesterday..

Did you get your GC through marriage? I am not sure if that makes a difference when applying for the bbg and then citizenship?

Yep, German can keep their citizenship if they want another one. It sucks that yours doesn’t allow that :( I completely understand that you have to think long and hard what you want to do in the future. Just look at the bigger picture. How much of a hassle would it be to get your citizenship back if you had the American citizenship?

yeah there is no way i can get back my citizenship lol. It costs 1million to get it with high qualifications and good salary records.

Hello,

I have a few international trips coming up in April & May therefore I made an Info Pass appointment and requested an I-551 Stamp.

The process was very easy, they put a stamp on my passport that extends my permanent residency one year from the date the stamp was issued. They did however take my green card; the lady mentioned that I either had the stamp or the expired green card. I had proof of my trips with me, but she did not ask to see that information. All I gave her was my passport, expired green card, and NOA extension letter. I did ask about the waiting time for California Service center on the removal of conditions and she said they were currently doing October 2016 apps, and I should wait on my bio-metrics for another 90 days! She also mentioned that if I had done bio-metrics in the last 15 months I might not even get a bio-metric appointment since they could use that information.

Another interesting point she made was on my NOA extension letter, apparently the one I was given was in a new format/template that she was not familiar with. So if you are planning on traveling abroad I suggest getting an I-551 stamp to avoid having any issues. The entire process took about one hour.

Best of Luck to Everyone!

Thanks for the great information.

Hey guys! So a few weeks ago one of you posted on this post or somewhere else perhaps regarding employment and the extension letter for proof of the extension on the GC. Someone put a link to a brochure or pamphlet directly from USCIS stating how that extension letter should suffice as proof of GC status and eligibility to continue to work. Does anyone know where I can find this again? I tried google but there are too many results and not many directly from USCIS. Thank you all!

The issue is that my husband’s HR rep. At his work scared him off saying the extension letter may not be enough. I of course got upset because I know it’s more than enough proof for him to continue working. They also told him they may have to put him on leave while they resolve the issue if HR department doesn’t accept it or investigated further with immigration. Obviously this pissed me off.

Did your husband point out the first 2 lines of the extension letter?  If so, insist that the HR Rep speak to his/her manager.

Your conditional resident status is extended for a period of one year. During the one-year extension you are authorized employment and travel. (This
extension and authorization for employment and travel does not apply to you if your conditional resident status has been terminated.)

Hi! Thanks for the response.

he did point that out and she supposedly told my husband that the notice/receipt may not be enough. So I just printed out what I found from the USCIS website and will send it to her. It’s clearly written on there #######?

the link I found is www.uscis.gov/I-9-central/71-lawful-permanent-residents-lpr

there it it clearly states how the combination of an expired permanent resident card and a form I-797 notice of action is an acceptable list C evidence of employment authorization.

I hope my post helps anyone else who comes up on such an issue.

Like @Klipsch17310 above, I got the following email this morning from USCIS:

"We are still reviewing your case and there are no updates at this time.  We will notify you when your case status changes. We last took action on your case on March 15, 2018."

However, when I log in to USCIS, it shows no activity since Feb 1st when my documents were received.  Not sure exactly what this means, other than to just keep waiting.

I do have a question though--how far in advance should I schedule an InfoPass appointment, once the one year extension is getting close to being over, in order to get my husband's passport stamped?  Just wanting to plan ahead, since I'm seeing that these things take time, especially since we're dealing with the CSC.

The email you got doesn't mean anything, its an automated update when you signed up for the account that will send " inactivity updates" every two weeks. you can just switch it off on the website itself under account settings, it is automatically turned on when you sign up.

I switched mine off as there is no point in getting an email about them not doing anything is there? @klipach17310 @agruesbeck  Switched it on now so you can see it too

What site or tool are you using to see the above screenshot? Its not the normal USCIS site is it?

@tomriesgo In the email, below the blue text I quoted, there is a blue sign in button, and when I click it, it takes me here: https://my.uscis.gov/account/applicant.  I log in, and see the screen shot shown.

Thanks, I'm about to change jobs and was concerned about that!

Also if anyone is travelling on an expired Green Card (I am tomorrow) here is guidance given to airline carriers etc. on acceptable documentation - pages 10 and 38 refer to travelling with an i-797 Notice of Action

Do you have an unrestricted SSN card? if so you dont even need to show your extension letter+expired GC.

SSN+Drivers license are enough.

If he ever submitted his old GC as list A when he first got hired. There is no need for them to re-verify him.

I read that too and that’s why I’m confused? This is in California by the way. A very liberal state in regard to immigration but who knows what the company he works for has regarding their immigration standards. Pretty dumbs it’s frustrating. That’s why I wanted to print the handbook out and drop it off at her office and say hey lady here’s the law written out for you lol
