Oh hey when did u had ur biometrics? I need the date for updating the list. Thanks!

Uhhh I can't, my country does not allow dual citizenship. I thought Germany doesn't allow that too.

Germany allows it under some circumstances... its a bit of a hassle but most applications get approved from what ive read.

I wont as i would loose my german citizenship..

i will wait a few more year until i apply to keep my german citizenship and then do n-400

i talked to a few people and a lawyer and they told me the chances that the “beibehaltungsantrag” will be approved are way higher when you live here for a longer time.

Did you get your GC through marriage? I am not sure if that makes a difference when applying for the bbg and then citizenship?

Yep, German can keep their citizenship if they want another one. It sucks that yours doesn’t allow that :( I completely understand that you have to think long and hard what you want to do in the future. Just look at the bigger picture. How much of a hassle would it be to get your citizenship back if you had the American citizenship?

Hello,

I have a few international trips coming up in April & May therefore I made an Info Pass appointment and requested an I-551 Stamp.

The process was very easy, they put a stamp on my passport that extends my permanent residency one year from the date the stamp was issued. They did however take my green card; the lady mentioned that I either had the stamp or the expired green card. I had proof of my trips with me, but she did not ask to see that information. All I gave her was my passport, expired green card, and NOA extension letter. I did ask about the waiting time for California Service center on the removal of conditions and she said they were currently doing October 2016 apps, and I should wait on my bio-metrics for another 90 days! She also mentioned that if I had done bio-metrics in the last 15 months I might not even get a bio-metric appointment since they could use that information.

Another interesting point she made was on my NOA extension letter, apparently the one I was given was in a new format/template that she was not familiar with. So if you are planning on traveling abroad I suggest getting an I-551 stamp to avoid having any issues. The entire process took about one hour.

Best of Luck to Everyone!

Why did you need a I-551 stamp if your extension letter is not expired?

My local office does NOT even give out I-551 stamps until the letter expires - I asked the supervisor when I was there for biometrics.

What does your NOA1 extension letter look like to say it is a new template?

I have a number of international trips coming up - the NOA-1 letter had better be enough as it is the only thing I can get.

Hubby had his biometrics on Friday 3/23.  His appointment was for 1pm, he arrived about 10 minutes early and was out by about 1:05 - said the Buffalo Office was pretty empty during that time.  They did some fingerprints and pictures.

Now life goes on until approval or an I-551 stamp lol :)

Wishing everyone the best in their journey, hopefully everyone hears sooner rather than later on their decisions.
