Good luck! at least they were able to do something, and hopefully it was the right thing!

As far as DL's go, I feel very fortunate to live in Florida. The only issue I had was finding a DMV that would process an immigrant (two places said they weren't trained to do it before I was sent to the correct one), and after that I was given a license good for eight years. I didn't even realize it was an issue for some people before I joined this thread. :( The further into the immigration process I've gotten and the more I read of other peoples struggles, the angrier I get whenever I hear someone say how "easy it is to immigrate" and how "lawmakers should make the process more difficult". I wish the stereotypes didn't make people so ignorant.

Thank you 😊 k_stacky. For 8 years?! That’s so nice! I wish it was like that here in CA .. I have had to go to the DMV every time something changes. Like the first time when I got my work permit, they only gave me the DL for a year and expired the same day as my work permit, then I had to go back again when I got my green card and they gave it to me only for 2 years and expires the same day my green card expires.. then I’m gonna have to go back again when I get my 10 years green card.. then again when I become a citizen lol .. so annoying.. hopefully they will give me a longer time when I get the 10 year green card 🤞🏻😁

One of my friends moved to the us last year. She lived in Florida and got a drivers license valid until 2025...she has a conditional green card as well..how is that even possible 🤔

If anyone is interested about my Driver Licence Renewal experience with the NOA 1 year extension, keep reading this post.

So I went this morning to the DMV in Simi Valley California without an appointment. I spent 2.5 hours there. The lady who helped me didn’t have an idea what to do and couldn’t even find in the letter where it states about one year extension and I had to point it at it so she could read it.. then she asked 3 other people and showing what I had. Finally she got it all straightened up and I had to take a pic again. She punched a whole in my current license and told me I need to carry it along with the temporary paper she gave me which will expire in May. She said it might take a long time to get my DL card in the mail because it takes a while for the DMV to verify my new info and letter. My current licence and green card expires on March 24 this year. She said that the new renewed license will expire on March 24th, 2019.. I just hope it’s true and that they don’t do it for the date on the NOA which is January. It was kinda pain to be waiting for them to figure it out but I’m glad I got something. Hopefully I will get my DL card within a month or less.

Aside from filing to renew the green card there is the burden of renewing the driver's license, I checked mine because I never thought of renewing it as soon as my green card expires. But luckily, I have 5 years of validity and will expire 2021.

Good thing something was able to work and hoping for you to receive your DL soon!

Lucky! 🙂.. first I went with my work permit to Arleta CA DMV and when I got my green card I went back to update. Both times they have given me the same expiration dates as my immigration documents. Today I went with the extension letter all the way to Simi Valley, CA to try if I would get a longer time but they did the same, it will expire same day my extension expires 😒

Yeah this sounds terrible. :(

I actually believe it was your first post in this thread about DL's that made me first stop and check mine, since Georgia is so close to Florida I for a quick moment thought maybe it would be something similar for me. It's so strange how every state seems to be different.

I live in Michigan and as soon as I received my conditional green card, I renewed my DL which was good only for 3 months before (I-94) but after that they gave me a new DL with 4 years expiration..

and take note, I only have G1 from Canada, which means I only passed written exam... :D
