Yeah, that's what I am worried about.. Here in GA, their official guidelines for driver's license states that with the I797 (NOA) form, they will only extend it ONCE for 4 months... I have read where others have been able to get it extended for the full year... but I am expecting they will only extend me for 4 months, and I will have to make an infopass appointment to get a my passport stamped with a temp I551 in order for the DMV to extend it beyond the 4 months.

I hope i don't have to go through all those hoops, but........... lol

Wow, that's rough. I just know that, because people aren't familiar with the ins and outs of these procedures (outside of knowing to check the date on someone's Green Card), I always go into these sorts of situations expecting to get frustrated because someone doesn't understand. Maybe it will be fine.

I really hope I don't have to end up getting an Info pass appointment. The USCIS office for that is in Montgomery, 2+ hours away and, having checked for "fun," never seems to have any appointments available. It's that side of all of this that is perhaps the most frustrating - it is as if they want to make it stressful! Why can't you, for instance, just go to the USCIS officer where you will have your biometrics done (assuming mine will be the same as when I did AOS?) which is much closer and they just check your documents and give you the stamp there? There must be a reason, but it's hard to see it from our perspective at times!

When I first got my GC the DMV in Orlando FL gave me 8 yrs on my drivers license , then I moved to Atlanta Georgia the DMV here gave me until my gc expiry date . I can only imagine the foolishness I’ll have to go through with the extension letter 😏

The upside of this whole process is that I am less than 20 mins from the Atlanta  field office and ASC biometrics office .

My check was cashed today as well and I also noticed the numbers in the memo section and decided to type them into the status checker on the USCIS website, here's what came up:

"On October 17, 2017, we received your Form CRI-89, Petition to Remove Conditions of Permanent Resident Status Received, Receipt Number WACxxxxxxxxxx, and sent you the receipt notice that describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your receipt notice by November 16, 2017, please call Customer Service at 1-800-375-5283. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address."

I've read that the I-751 is internally referred to as CRI-89, but I'm not entirely sure of this. Even if the CRI-89 is the same thing as I-751, why is it showing that USCIS received the petition in October of 2017 when USCIS received my I-751 file on Jan. 24, 2018? Anybody else experiencing a similar status online?
