Are the timelines in the USCIS website really accurate? I have seen other visajourney threads from other years and I have seen people getting approved in 4-6 months .. so who knows .. for some reason I think it depends on the officer who looks at the files

I honestly believe they are just using the processing times from the USCIS site when you call in that haven’t been updated since Oct 31.

Yup, that wouldn't surprise me at all. Going by how things were when we were waiting for our K1 approval ... it was the most frustrating process ever!

Does anyone know if we need to carry around the original extension letter? I’ve made copies in case it gets lost or my husband gets his wallet stolen.

Also, his passport will be expiring soon too since his was only for three years. He is a Mexican citizen. I will make an appointment for him to renew but I wonder if they’ll revoke his old one? It’s just that that one has the k1 and all of that good stuff. Does anyone have any details on this too? Thank you all for everything <3

Hi frida, yes they will revoke the old passport. Unless you want to go with the hassle of saying that he "lost it" he will need to bring ALL kind of Mexican documents, birth certificate, military card, etc.  They will issue him a new one but they will ask more questions. I will have to go renew my soon because it will expire on 2/28/18. I don't have any stamps on it. In my case I don't mind if they keep the old one. I don't know how is in your area but in my area only the person who needs to renew is allow to go into their office/building.

My package hasn't arrived to csc yet but I would carry the extension letter with me.

If he leaves the US and wishes to re-enter, he'll need BOTH the original extension letter + the expired green card. The K1 is irrelevant at this time, except for historical reference. Keep a copy of somewhere.

We did 2 day priority and the package was delivered on 1/24 and the check was cashed today. They sure do love taking the money really fast and then forgetting about your application for over a year.

On a side note, we know VJ is like a really tiny sample of all people in the US and abroad going through this process, but it would be kind of nice to know about how many people on average are currently in ROC. Especially since only 1 or 2 VJ members get approved per week.
