Check cashed today by the VSC. Phew! It's horrible to be back waiting on every little thing. Looking forward to becoming a citizen down the road so I never have to deal with all this again!

Congrats that your case moved a step forward!

I thought it should be first come first serve. Why my case was delivered a few days earlier to VSC but $$ has not been cashed?! :(

I don’t think anyone really knows how they run their operation . but if the government shuts down tomorrow , we’ll all have major set backs . Fingers crossed that they don’t shut down .

We're in the fray!

i-751 arrived at California Service Center on 01/18/18

So does the time you spend with an expired green card and 751 extension letter count toward the time required to become a US citizen?

Yes - many people actually file their N-400 while the I-751 is still pending. You can apply within 90 days prior to the expiration of your additional year of status given by filing your I-751. They will not approve the N-400 until the I-751 is approved though... Some people have had interviews for both in the same day.

Hi fellow January filers! We will be submitting our package on the 22nd.

I just have a quick question that maybe one of you could answer for me. During the first year of our marriage, my husband and I lived with my parents. My husband gained employment in September of 2016 in Orlando so we moved to Orlando and signed a lease, which we have included a copy of in our packet. In January 2017 his position was eliminated and we had to break our lease and move back to my parents place.

So on our application in shows parents address 2015-2016, Orlando with lease Oct 2016-Feb 2017, parents place feb 2017-present.

My husband has since gained employment again and we will be moving to our own place in a few months but we still reside with my parents and we pay them monthly for utilities which are in THIER names. Should I have one of my parents sign a sworn affidavit attesting to this and send a copy of their ID or just not even mention it and send what we have? I'm starting to think I am overthinking things but I just wanted someone else's advice.

I just don't want USCIS to see 1 address for 1 year, another for 4 months, and then the first address again for a year to present.

Thanks, Cody

Just include a cover letter in front of your "lease and home" section in the Exhibit and explain the situation.

I myself had a long ### situation with my rental too, when POE in US, I was not allowed to include my name in the lease as a tenant because I was a K1 visa, and I have to seek for my cousin's help whose a USC staying in NY and did not even reside with us in GA, to have her name included as a guarantor for me. I was then an additional occupant on lease, and a tenant later on when I get my conditional greencard and lease was not over yet, hence my cousin's name could not be removed moreover with me being unemployed and we had 3 names on the lease lol. Until I moved to a new place last year October when lease is finally over, I was able to remove my cousin's name lol with the establish of my credit score after years. I did a sentence by sentence paragraph explanation for each lease lol, provided in the cover letter with my cousin's, lease management contact information. As long as you explain it clear, I guess it should be fine. I did not get any affidavits from my cousin since she's so far away from me lol and I haven't get a chance to meet up with her yet, I think having contact information should be good enough. If you want to include affidavits from your parents, it'll be great too.

You might also want to update your profile to Removal of Conditions Timeline!
