Congress Inquiry

Has anyone attempted to contact their Congressman and/or Senator (preferably one that has a high regard on immigration lol) regarding the extremely long wait times at the CSC and VSC? 

 

That may may be a good idea. It seemed to work for our petition at the dreaded TSC during our K-1. I’m not sure if it actually did anything, but we were approved two weeks after our Congressman inquired about our file. Perhaps worth a shot after waiting maybe 6+ months?

Worth to try but if your application timeline is still not within the processing timeline of USCIS, then it will be a waste of time. Because USCIS will respond to them in a generic word of response.

Yes.

1st senator no response. ditto for second and third.

4th one did respond, was asked for info and copies of all USCIS documents to date and a timeline, and they did indeed send an inquiry...unfortunately this was just a couple of days  before my denial letter was issued.

Nothing they could do to help after that point - at least until my second I-751 is classed as out of time (which won't happen, as I will have filed my N-400 long before that)

I received a response from USCIS to the enquiry ('someone has enquired on your behalf') dated exactly thirty days after they enquired.

 

 

 

If your I-751 is not classed as out of processing time then don't waste your time

Got ya. So the USCIS processing timeline in according to the official one on the USCIS website, right? How do you know what’s within the “official processing time” otherwise?

You can check the below site and choose your service center which I guess CSC? then check the form number.

Actually we are VSC, which says October 16, 2017 on the USCIS website, so then I assume anyone who has a NOA before October 16, 2017 could file a reasonful congressional inquiry?

Where do you see that? I see this for VSC:

So if you're under VSC service center then based on that they are still processing October 10, 2016, but that's t not updated since I saw some January 2017 filers got their approval already, but then again the USCIS will still use their processing time line to response if you will do the congress inquiry. I know it sucks but it is what it is.

Yes, even without the congress help you can still send inquiry if your processing timeline is before the said date.

Processing times shown are as of Sept 30. Do they update once a quarter?

No they do monthly. Once a month

They do it randomly so there is no specific date they do the update.

As far as I know, it takes about ~1 year to ROC. That might depend mostly on the service center your petition is at.

I personally wouldn't bother if just 6 something months have passed.
