Hi, I’m after a bit of advice. My fiancé is a US citizen and we are planning in time to get married and for me to move over to the US. I am a qualified midwife and whilst I don’t want to rely on a work visa as such I am looking for guidance as to whether my skills as a Midwife in the UK will easily transfer to the US? I can’t really find much info online and don’t want to move over with no job to go to. Thanks in advance

Anything licensed or certified medical will be a chore to transfer.  My previous wife was a foreign trained pharmacist and finally gave up because too many hurdles.  It should be easier for someone trained in Western medicine than others, but still will take time to go through the hoops.

You might also have to prove your English proficiency...  hhhhhhhhhhhhh

YMMV

It looks like there are a bunch of exams - both national and statewide - that you will have to take. In my state, midwives also need to be certified as NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Providers).
