Good Morning,

My husband's IR1 Interview was 11/29/2017 at the Ghana Embassy. He was granted his Visa (yaaay!) but we still have not been able to collect his passport from DHL. Every time he goes to collect it he is told that it is not there and that we will receive an email when it is ready for pick up. According to the paperwork he was giving at the interview it should have taken no more than 10 business days.  It's been about 13 business days being that they had a holiday there. I honestly wanted my husband to travel here before the Christmas holiday. I am very concerned as to the whereabouts of his passport. When I reach out to the embassy they tell me to reach out to the ustraveldocs.com when I reach out to ustraveldocs.com they tell him to reach out to the embassy. When I call the customer service number they have zero information, even asking me when was our interview. I am really lost as to what to do. Has anyone who has dealt with the Ghana embassy had this same issue? Did you receive an email or phone call when your passport was available for pickup? Please advise.

Hi Naa, my husband went for his CR1 visa interview on Dec 6 and I received an email and a text on Dec 10  that his passport was ready for pick up. Did you follow the instructions on the sheet he was given register on usatraveldocs website? You can add your email and phone address for pick up notification. If you did, please make sure you put in the right passport number because failure to do so results in delays. you can follow this link to track the passport http://www.ustraveldocs.com/gh/gh-niv-passporttrack.asp. Congratulations on getting the visa and I hope he joins you before Christmas. My husband arrived in Chicago on Friday and I can't thank God enough.

Congrats Naa!  You and your husband are very lucky to be approved since the US Embassy in Ghana turns down a lot of applicants.  You must have done careful filing and I would love to gain some guidance from you on the best way to apply for a green card for my Ghanaian husband.  I am a US citizen and I have been living in Ghana with my husband for the last two years and we have a baby together.  I really want us to live in America so I want to file for my husband's green card.  Please contact me via email at mitchelljennifer471@gmail.com with details on how you filed for your husband to have such a successful outcome.

Did you and your husband marry in Ghana or USA?

Did you file for his green card within the US or in Ghana?

Did you handle all the paperwork yourself or did you hire an attorney?

How long did it take from filing the petition to getting an interview?

Please answer my questions via email because I would really appreciate some advice from someone who has had a recent approval.

Thanks in advance.

Jennifer
