It was more of an educational thing to everyone. Solar power actually kind of was popular around the 1800s in B'more (and was used back in the 1700s in some forms too). It's vastly different than it is today, but they were remarkable inventions for their time and so innovative in what they could do! With financial crashes and natural gas though, such innovations fell to the wayside... which is a shame.

 

I believe that solar power is a fantastic invention and a really remarkable way to be self-sufficient. It's a big investment, but it does pay off... but we do need to be practical in our limitations.

Trump loves all forms of energy. He also realizes solar currently has some limitations. For instance…..some days it is cloudy.

Are renewables really cheaper?  How much for a Tesla car right now?  

 

Near my place last year, they built a $75 million solar array, that is designed to “reduce local electricity costs”.  Haven’t seen a reduction yet.  And one thing they WON’T publish about the farm is how many years before it starts generating a profit.

Why should government be in the business of promoting technology?  Sure, the government can provide grants and funding for search, but when it starts promoting one technology over the other it is over stepping its bounds in my opinion.
